Food supply worries grow after outbreak closes Smithfield meat plant
Smithfield said on Sunday that it would close its Sioux Falls, S.D., pork processing facility "until further notice," a decision that could have ripple effects throughout the industry. Smithfield is the world’s biggest pork processor, and the closed plant accounts for up to 5 percent of U.S. pork production. The company's CEO has warned of potential meat shortages.

Other meat processors like Tysons Food, Cargill and JBS have also closed some plants, and more facilities could shutter if workers are found sick.

Seed companies can't keep up as more Americans turn to growing their own food

Some seed companies said they've temporarily stopped taking new orders after seeing an overwhelming surge in demand. The increase in orders is "just unbelievable," said George Ball, chairman of Burpee Seeds, a 144-year-old seed company in Pennsylvania. The company closed to new orders last week because it needed time to catch up, although it plans to start accepting them again on Wednesday.

With Americans largely stuck in place, many are turning to home-based activities that are boosting sales of home improvement goods, alcohol — and gardening supplies.

Sure glad I, and most here, planned ahead and didn’t wait until the day of to start trying to get supplies.

Money Is Losing Its Meaning
(Bloomberg Opinion) -- Doing “whatever it takes” to save the global economy from the coronavirus pandemic is going to cost a lot of money. The U.S. government alone is spending a few trillion dollars, and the Federal Reserve is creating another few trillion dollars to keep the financial system from collapsing. A custom Bloomberg index measuring M2 figures for 12 major economies including the U.S., China, euro zone and Japan shows their aggregate money supply had already more than doubled to $80 trillion from before the 2008-2009 financial crisis.

These numbers are so large that they no longer have any meaning; they are simply abstractions. It’s been some time since people thought about the concept of money and its purpose. The broad idea is that money has value, but that value is not arbitrary. Former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker once said in an interview that “it is a governmental responsibility to maintain the value of the currency they issue. And when they fail to do that, it is something that undermines an essential trust in government.”

We just got our first post-lockdown online grocery order delivered. I left instructions to just leave it by the door so there was no face-to-face contact, and added a little extra cash tip (in addition to the online tip) to the "shopper" in an envelope on the door. And I wiped everything down with hand sanitizer wipes when putting it away.

Welcome to the "New Normal" :(

Seems some people are coming to their senses..

Chris Cuomo: CNN show is not "worth my time" anymore

"The CNN star rattled off a long list of grievances about his on-air gig. He said he doesn't "value indulging irrationality, hyper-partisanship" or "trafficking in things that I think are ridiculous."

Nice to see him admit his show on CNN, and the network, are nothing more than irrational, hyper partisan, ridiculousness.

It’s every news media now that’s guilty of this.

Remember when they told us the supply chains weren't at risk so there was no need to stock up?

In case you haven't been able to figure it out yet, EVERYONE is playing this by ear and has no frickin idea what the future holds, or what all the ramifications are going to be.

Well, we know that the starving zombies won’t eat the Democrats because there are no brains in those knuckleheads. ;)
They don't have guts either which Zombies also enjoy.

That guy looks super-trustworthy. The only reason to tolerate the government is because there are too many idiots who can't think for themselves and it's the only thing that sometimes keeps them from idioting too much. But always realize that the government is not there to help you, it's there to control you.
