It's crazy how much some of these race horses are worth. I would imagine even more work is involved in the upbringing. Big money too.
 
How often are you supposed to work on hooves out of curiosity?

The industry standard is to have a farrier check them every 6 weeks. It's not a very expensive thing to do, ours charges us $25 per horse, each visit. (He does our two, and our boarders' horses).

As for how to get their hooves up....just training. Ours all are pretty good for the farrier. And there are techniques to it. I can pretty much just tap on a leg with my finger a couple times, and ours will lift the leg.
