that is the future, but I still wonder if those batteris,at present, can take cold?
CA temp is more suitable than for ex AK.

I just don't get how this guy is so ahead of the curve. There will be a trial and error period of course. This appears to be the direction of automotive industry. I think it's going backfire for sports car manufacturers however. "Spirited" driving will become a thing of the past.

Tesla motors just gets all the media attention. GM is ahead in technology and is coming out with much better vehicles once the market is there for it.

I've seen footage from China where the ground, air and water is DEADLY in a city where they recycle all these LI and other types of batteries, Mercury in the ground, Lithium, Cyanide, Sulphuric acid, Lead , Nickel, Silver SHIT we as a species cannot even recycle and reuse the billions of knackered Tyres (tires) we discard. Can you imagine tend of millions of tons EVERY effing YEAR that will need melting down, sorting, reclaiming etc and the shit that will end up in the environment. You KNOW eventually no matter how it starts or what promises are made that eventually a few third world nations will destroy huge areas of the planet by recycling the batteries as cheaply as possible. AND just to get enough Lithium we will have to dig up HUGE areas of the salt flats in the Atacama desert just to find enough lithium..

I'm not into all this tech stuff, I know it's going that way and nothing I do or think is going to change it or change minds, most probably like all this and that's fine. I'm an meat and potatoes kind of guy that still uses cast iron pans and fire to cook with. Lisa on the other hand likes a lot of this tech stuff and for the most part doesn't understand my resistant to it but I reckon our age gap plays a major role in our thinking's though she does have a line in the sand of tech going to far, AI being one of them.

I do wish Tesla Motors good luck!

I'm not fan of Tesla in particular but understand they're necessary to keep market on it's toes. I have a neighbor who has one who thinks world of it. Many people my age or younger think its the end all be all. I believe a few automobile manufacturers are destined to become irrelevant and eventually go under. The market is completely over saturated with cars that are too much alike. Too much of the same thing. Tesla at the very least is attempting to stand out. I'll give them that.

From a purist perspective however I see Tesla in a negative light. I just can't get excited about driving an electric car. My mom drives one though not a Tesla.

Regardless of how efficient they're...theyre still BORING in my opinion.

Those semis are a different story.

I'm with Silent Earth on this. I think we're going to eventually run into a HUGE problem with the toxicity of discarded batteries many years after we go fully electric. I do see it as inevitable though. I just personally don't think that battery tech is where it needs to be yet, to support the device power demands of today's electrical devices (or vehicles).

This is what happens in the REAL world with old electronics, IMAGINE how it will be with old car power cells ? AND dont think it wont affect you these PCPs , Mercury, Lead, Zinc, Arsenic, Hormone mimicking chemicals, Cyanide get into the air, ground water and oceans

Of course.

Environmentalist green earth policies disclaimer fine print 'Excluding Developing Nations and Third World Countries from eco friendly green earth requirements'

So, to have this feel good eco friendly green environment we teach oil is bad, plastic grocery bags pollute the ground and fill up our landfills, so lets make the items that's bad for the environment disappear (Developing Nations and Third World Countries) and flood the land with the ever safe solar panels you know, the very green power producing panels click>>(we won't mention the dead birds)<<click lets also keep the secret the chemical pollution oh like silicon tetrachloride oh ya forgot about the greenhouse gases emitted in photovoltaic panel production, we won't mention anything about the quartz being extracted from mines, we will keep all that a secret shhh oil is used in the production we keep that between us ;) Anyway I think cow farts are worse for the environment, we need more solar farms not cows (sarcasm)

The g'damn green movement is nothing more than a money making religion under the ruse the movement is good for the environment, nothing more than a bunch of self serving hypocrites of the worst kind.

Such an earth friendly farm and no farts

I have no problem with the development of electric vehicles, but not at taxpayers expense. If there's a need for it someone will will fill that need. I also think it's BS trying to label this as "Green" when it's anything but green. The problem with government and the green weenies is they would like to force people in to driving something they don't want. Oil is still a far better, cleaner and cheaper energy source than non substidized electric ever will be. If people want to spend their own money on development or purchase of electric vehicles great. Just don't spend my money on it.

3rd world baby....will become the new dumping ground. Though I suspect Russia has PLENTY of miles they'd make a buck or two off as well...

'Going Green, Eco Friendly, Environmental Friendly' are misused phrases.

We have some in our government wanting us to use steel instead of wood in the structure of our homes because steel is more environmental friendly, the lunacy is astounding.

I'm not against electric cars or anything electric, I'm not even against solar panels at all but don't tell me solar panels are more friendly than cow farts as in California case, if a product sells and fills the need more power to them, just don't cram it down my throat as being friendly to the environment over other products or punish me for not using such items.
