I like the code word thing.... Definitely a good plan if shtf. Now to pick a word my mother will remember...... Haha
Every family should have code phrases and signals such as special signals outside the home such as a specific light that should only be on in an emergency to notify unsuspecting family members etc...
Yeah every time I mention being prepared, she tells me I'm crazy, and said nothing's going to happen. She was very happy for the use of my generator a couple months ago though... We only had power out a couple hours, but still. Could have been longer.my mom simply dont see any reason for it.i've stocked up on a few items for short term power outages.like oil lamps.2 different types of lanterns and flashlights.needless to say.that she didnt saything.but i could tell that she was greatfull, and thankfull for that.mainly when it got dark out.
I've seen on TV and YouTube that some people have a code phrase for bugging out; this seems a little silly to me, but to each their own. I do wish my wife and I had more codes in place than the hand signs and the C&R though. The trick is getting things you'll remember without a whole lot of practice, and that aren't phrases you'll find yourself wanting to commonly use.

Needless to say, she doesn't question it any more. Doesn't help me either, but no more sarcasm is nice lol.
