We’re doing a Super Bowl party here tonight. Just my son and his wife and our employee with his girlfriend. My wife decided we are going to have enough food for thirty people. I’ve been prepping all the veggies and stuff for a couple hours. I’m cooking chicken, pork and shrimp fajitas, pulled pork sandwiches, Mexican rice and refried beans, veggie tray with hummus and spinach dips, and of course some muscadine wine. Might even throw in a beer tonight. I’m about to go start cooking the fajitas now. This is the only football game I will watch all year and honestly I’m more interested in the food and commercials than the game.

We are out traveling so its Cracker Barrel .

So I am officially cooking for granny full time starting Wed. I know she enjoys my cooking, but I also know what she expects, which honestly has not been happening at my house lately. Tomorrow hunny has an appointment about an hour and a half away so I am doing a crock pot style meal for dinner. Granny will be getting the night before leftovers. She will be expecting an entree, at least 2 sides, bread of some sort and desswrt. The dessert does not happen every night at my house. I may just bake cookies to send. Tomorrow will be buffalo chicken and whatever quick sides I do because I know it will be a late day. Wed will be another quickie for me since I will be doing an over night shift. Already have a ham out to defrost. My off day will be backstrap. I just kinda hate I am losing my leftover meals for hunny to eat for lunch, but granny is worth it. I guess I am sounding selfish right now. . . I maybe need to start cooking like the boys were still home.

I really like the place. It came in last as far as cholesterol and salt content, but that’s why it tastes so good!
oh heck you reminded me I need to get out bacon to defrost. I got mustard greens sprouting off my back deck where I thrashed seeds last year. I know granny lives those and so do I :).

We are trying to clean out our freezer. Tonight we made some frozen fried rice and added some leftover ground Italian sausage.
I can’t say it was good, but it was filling. We have plenty more things in the freezer to eat for the next couple of weeks.

I got to where I don’t put frozen leftovers in the big freezer anymore. All the meals I vacumseal stay in the kitchen freezer so I can see them and try to go through them within 6 months. I recently went through and reorganized the big freezer and had meals in there from 2013. They were still edible but with being so old they got fed to the outside dogs over a few weeks. Luckily I never completely waste food around here with them and the compost pile.

I had roast beef and gravy over rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, a huge moist and fluffy biscuit and some greens that are better than any I’ve ever cooked. I had lunch at a mom and pop country restaurant and brought home half of it for dinner. All for 7.00. I think I could eat there every day and never get tired of it.

We had a great inexpensive country restaurant up Highway 27 in Waverly Hall, about a 25 minute drive from here. Better veggies that I could hope to cook. Problem was, it was only open during the week and only for breakfast and lunch. The only time I went there was when going to a range near there during the week. If they had been open for supper I definitely would have made the drive with my wife at least once a week.

It went out of business. :(

Early dinner of home-made aloo gosht with yellow pepper in the dish and little naans to mop up all the loveliness, as I'm off out to see Stan and Ollie at the cinema tonight :D

Wife had a friend that made us Bangladeshi aloo gosht with lamb, that is a good meal!
