There are two governors, that I know of, who are causing their people to die. One is Nevada and the other Michigan. Here is an article about the Michigan Governor...

“Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is threatening doctors who over-prescribe chloroquine, a proven malaria drug that President Trump has touted as potentially effective in combating coronavirus, by demanding they turn in any colleagues who do.

The Detroit News opinion page was the first to note that Whitmer’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs sent a letter to doctors and pharmacists on March 24 warning of professional consequences of prescribing the drug, which has reportedly been effective in other parts of the world.

Prescribing hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine without further proof of efficacy for treating COVID-19 or with the intent to stockpile the drug may create a shortage for patients with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or other ailments for which chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are proven treatments. Reports of this conduct will be evaluated and may be further investigated for administrative action. Prescribing any kind of prescription must also be associated with medical documentation showing proof of the medical necessity and medical condition for which the patient is being treated. Again, these are drugs that have not been proven scientifically or medically to treat COVID-19.“

Absolute power is able to absolutely corrupt even the best of humans. When they get up too high, get to much power, they only get hungry for more. If you earn your first million dollars, then see someone with 5 M, then you want 5M also, see someone with 10 M .......it never stops. They were elected to protect the laws and regulations of a certain State or city, then they think they know the best was to do things, forget that they have special advisors who have special knowledge and fields. Pres. Bush jr. was a total idiot with an IQ of only 91. But he could play golf and leave the work to some very good advisors and specialists. Even Churchhill decided it was better to NOT try to kill Hitler back then, since he was a military idiot/fool and was making so many bad decisions, it was easier to defeat Germany with Hitler alive....GP

This is the first I’ve ever witnessed in all my years. To make it even more outrageous, it is nothing but politics! If a drug that has been around since 1955...and used a zillion times...is on the WHO short list of ESSENTIAL DRUGS, how can these Governors not allow people to try to be saved with it?

Well stated Gary. Last night it made me angry. This morning I am just sad. Praying for everyone.

I don’t know legally for physicians how this works, but I am hoping they get together and rebel against this for the poor Citizens who are under their care.

Those doctors swore an oath. The governor also as far as I know. I cannot imagine that a governor has the actual power to deny the 2nd Amendment, a sherrif in LA to stop citizens from buying guns, or any legally elected official to prevent a professional doctor from doing his job with that or those medical possibilities at his disposal. If he came to me and wanted to follow up on his "threats" of professional "actions" then I would sue his ### in a heartbeat. At the same time, I would give the patient what he wanted and what I know works. If nothing else, I would just write his sickness down as malaria or yellow fever and give him the hydroxochloroquine as prescribed...GP

I know there are many approved trials of new drugs and treatments going on right now. There is a reason they should be strict in how the trials take place. It’s to save lives. There are too many doctors that are either money hungry or would be doing it for fame. The cdc is comprised of many doctors and scientists that look at the bigger picture of the risks and rewards. An individual doctor has one specific view of the situation. I’ll take collective knowledge any day.

Wish I could agree Brent. This is not a new drug. Far from it. If it were, that would be very different. You can’t tell me they will find any different side affects than they have since 1934 at the dosage used for malaria. Further, there are doctors who have already used this on CVirus patients and healed them. Think about it, if you are laying in a bed not able to breathe, hurting all over, and told by your doctor that there is nothing further he/she can do...would you not want to try Hydroxychloroquine to at least see if it would save you?

That personal choice IS NOT for some Governor to decide for millions!

“Both drugs have in-vitro activity against SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, and other coronaviruses, with hydroxychloroquine having relatively higher potency against SARS-CoV-2 [1,4,5]. A study in China reported that chloroquine treatment of COVID-19 patients had clinical and virologic benefit versus a comparison group, and chloroquine was added as a recommended antiviral for treatment of COVID-19 in China [6]. Based upon limited in-vitro and anecdotal data, chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine are currently recommended for treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in several countries. Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have known safety profiles with the main concerns being cardiotoxicity (prolonged QT syndrome) with prolonged use in patients with hepatic or renal dysfunction and immunosuppression but have been reportedly well-tolerated in COVID-19 patients.

I do agree that politicians shouldn’t be the ones making medical decision though.

Yeah, medical life or death decisions should always be made by the person who is the one who is suffering and might die...with advice from the doctor. Any legal medicine should be on the table to chose from!

Doctors can prescribe "Off Label" drugs if they are approved by the FDA for something else. It happens all the time. Doesn't mean the insurance company will pay for it however.

Just went and spoke with my pharmacist about Hydroxychloroquine. He said it is approved by the FDA and a very established and safe drug. He said they have a lot of it as well as Z Paks so there would be no problem getting it with a prescription. Checked the price on Goodrx...for in case it isn’t covered. A prescription of it is anywhere from $20 to $34 dollars depending on which pharmacy you get it at.

A 38-year-old Michigan man with no underlying conditions contracted coronavirus last week and was successfully treated with the drug combination being touted by President Trump.

Jim Santilli told talk radio host Steve Gruber he is “living proof” the combination of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin works.

Santilli said he became seriously ill March 18 “with severe cardiac and respiratory issues” and was admitted to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in metro Detroit.

According to Gruber, “Santilli said the biggest problem was waiting for test results that took four days to come back. In the meantime his condition worsened by the hour, and he thought he was going to die.”

“Santilli says he was slowly drowning and was convinced he ‘would not live until midnight.’ That’s when doctors made a decision he says changed everything,” Gruber said.

The survivor said the drug combination began to work “within a few hours.”

Santilli credited Trump for his survival.

“Donald Trump recommending that medication combination saved my life and a lot of other people’s lives,” he told Gruber.

Santilli criticized Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) for her recent threat against doctors and pharmacists, and believed it is a “terrible decision,” adding, “She is sentencing people to death.”
