Well, with today's probable track, the storm is coming a LOT closer to us, and we'll likely see at least TS conditions, if not Hurricane conditions, by Friday.

I've got a lot to do before then. Luckily, I took Friday off already, as we were planning a weekend trip that may or may not happen now.

But, so much to do before then.

Yeah, this morning I saw its track grazing the east coast of fla. my mother in law is in DeLand, just inland from Daytona. I think she will see some rain..... Wish I could talk her into a vacation up here.

The news tonight is showing a run on grocery and building supply stores all along the south east. Why do people think we are strange for always being stocked up? Id rather buy my supplies when they are on sale vs right before a hurricane.

I am at a loss to understand how some think we are strange to stock up during normal times, and then they panic and buy everything in the store just before a storm hits. now just who are the crazy ones here? especially if you live in "tornado alley" or earthquake country!!

While it is going up that coast, the conditions go out for miles on each side, so no matter where you are in FL, we're getting some of it....just a question of how much, not if...... It's pretty much killed my original plans for the weekend (was going to Orlando for a convention)....

My MIL lives about 25 miles inland from the coast, so she will get some rain and wind at least. I saw one European weather model that had it loop back around after grazing the east coast and then going into central fla. again. I don't think the chances are good for that luckily. Yeah, I'd reschedule an outing too. Monsoon rains kind of take the fun out of things like that.

The convention is indoors, but it's an hour and a half drive away, so....not wanting to drive in that.
So far, the convention is still on, but I can't see Orlando getting out of getting some really bad winds.

My MIL lives about 25 miles inland from the coast, so she will get some rain and wind at least.

That's how we are at the ranch. We're pretty inland, but it's a good sized storm, so we'll get something from it for sure...but at least no flooding worries here.

Most of my storm prep is more about keeping the animals safe. Normal preps take care of the rest. (oh, and gassing up the truck of course).

I just hope my gazebo survives. Not much I can do there except take it apart...and that's just a bitch.

I'm moving the chickens into one of the stalls, just because last time a nasty storm hit, I lost one...somehow. I'm assuming the rain made it so muddy, that the hen got stuck and panicked or something. But the stall will be nice and dry. I may have to run some mesh though, as they can likely get between the bars up top.

Though we're in a Tropical Storm Warning, we're still at work today. FL businesses for you. I took off tomorrow though, originally for something else, but glad I did. I may have to leave early if it gets windy, before they close the bridge home. (the event I was going to this weekend has already been cancelled, wisely...as I doubt there is any food or gas left in Orlando, and no flights in there now for the convention guests).

I think the bridges close at 60mph winds. Just be aware of alternate routes. I really think your just going to have a wet and windy day on the west coast. Now all you can do is wait. I'm still seeing that there's a chance this thing is going to loop around and get a second chance at targeting Fla. again. Ahhh, the wonderful sunshine state!

My MIL and a good friend both live on the east coast in fla. both had limbs and debris everywhere but no real damage or flooding. Luckily the storm was a little further out off the coast than they predicted.

They typically shut bridges down here in 35mph (25mph on the Skyway) winds. But, the HF is shut down more from high tide and wind blowing water across it, in a bad storm. Luckily though, it missed us almost completely.
