My Nephew (My Sisters Son) works a full time job and drives for Uber to make a little extra $$ . He was driving Uber last night and dropped a passenger off and gun shots rang out . He was shot in the chin near His throat and His car got hit several times .
He drove out of it and got to a parking lot and called Police . They sent Him to hospital and went to the crime scene. They picked up several 5.56 shell cases . He was very fortunate , 1 bullet grazed Him under His chin . A little higher or back a little more would have been fatal . As is He walked away with a bad gash .
Robin this happened in Murfreesboro .
Not a bad City , Him and His Brother like it as its more exciting than here at Home . His Mom told Him pack Your *hit and come home .
Obviously the criminal meant to make a head shot , kill Him and rob Him .

More and more crime in this area all the time. It has a lot to do with people traveling the interstates and deciding to stay and peddle their goods. It bleeds into the community

It is obvious the criminal wanted to kill Him there and rob Him . Possible the passenger was involved . This is near Nashville and the past couple years there has been a increase in violent parking lot robberies .

I don't trust other people, apart from the wife that is, and i'm always "watching my back", something I learned living in a city for over 40 years, even now living in the countryside i'm still suspicious of people.

Uber--- No coverage -- self employed contractor status. OR at least that is how I understand it is setup. Please feel free to correct me if I got it wrong.

That is going to be a problem . His rear windshield is shot out , dashboard is shot up . I don't think uber will cover anything. Medical will be expensive too . Car paid for so He probably only had liability . They are dealing with insurance today and getting Him back in a car . Yes the Uber job is over .

There are people out there that will kill you for 20.00 and not think twice about it. Having a ccw is great, but in a case like this he was probably hit before he even knew he was in any danger. Just glad he had the sense to get out of dodge quickly.

Unfortunately Uber doesn't allow their drivers to carry even if they are licensed. So everyone pretty much knows Uber drivers are defenseless. This is terrifying; I'm glad it wasn't even worse.

Like like all the places that post "gun free zone". Why not just say.....come rob me?

When I’m in a hospital or doctors offices I just don’t pay attention to the ‘free zone’ signs. I figure if I ever get caught I will be polite, apologize and say I never noticed the sign. Either way, if anyone ever starts shooting around me you can bet I’m going to exercise my right to defend myself.

Brent. I have had that getting caught twice with Doctors and just did as you described. Still have my EDC with me when I go in for consultations. Wife has it if I am going in for an exam.

I work in a smaller city south of this location and Yesterday a employee left where I work and got in the parking lot . A panhandler approached him and gave the sad story . So Kid felt sorry for him and took out his wallet . Panhandler hit him grabbed his wallet and ran . Kid chased him down , thug starts beating Kid up another employee that was in the parking lot helped kid and held thug until Police arrived . Good job by the good guys .
I looked at a picture from our security camera and realized I threw the thug out of our parking lot the previous week for harassing people . He's in jail now .

It’s a crappy world we live in. There are some real scum out there. What concerns me is during shtf with no rule of law to slow the scum down how bad will it get. Glad your workmate didn’t get too hurt, and the scum is off the street even if it’s just for a short while.

Had a bum try a similar routine with me. He said I dropped something. I told him I would pick it up later. I think he wanted me to lower my head to look ad then slug me. Did not go his way and he left after I stared him down. There are a lot of crafty predators out there. Psalm7, glad it ended well for your workmate and the scum bucket is off the street.
