I read a fiction book years ago (I will try to find it and post the title here), about a virus that was introduced into nature, destroyed all of the GMO seed crops, the resulting global famine ect.

I saw No Blade of Grass which was the 1970 movie version of The Death of Grass and it made a lasting impression. Pretty shocking at the time. It's probably tame by today's standards.

I saw the film some years ago on YouTube, the book outshines the film as is often the case.
