Hello! I wasn't sure where to post this, but this seemed like a good place to start. My name is Haley, I am a sophomore in college and I am currently in a writing class. For this class I am researching the discourse community of doomsday preppers. I would love to have the opportunity to interview anyone from this cite in order to gain information for my final ethnographic paper. Thank you! PM me for information

I will give you fair warning, Haley. People on these types of sites tend to be naturally suspicious (myself included). We wonder why you are interested in what other people think about prepping, if you are not wanting to start prepping yourself. People might be more interested in sharing their ideas with you if you would share yours with them. So here we go: At this point in time, what are your views on prepping? What do you think of preppers? Why did you choose this topic for your paper? Are you considering prepping yourself?

We get at least a couple of these a year. The last college student I spoke with took bits of the conversation and took things out of context to promote his views of preppers being selfish and not caring about the rest of the world. Lesson learned. As far as being a socialist and sharing everything I have with others that don’t bother to live within their means or save for hard times, well, maybe I am a little selfish. My family and the people I care about come first.

UP, and don't forget to mention to the little darling: when you provide for her, YOU have authority over her. If she chooses to rebel and go independent, she can supply for herself as well. No such thing as a free lunch, everything 'free' comes with a cost.

my only duty is to see that me and mine survive, not to anyone who cant be bothered and spends all their money on the latest gadget or smart phone and takes 3 foreign holidays each year.
