I've been saying this for years, but no one around me believed it until Edward Snowden revealed the unconstitutional NSA spying on US Citizens through the PRISM program.

that's yet another reason why I don't live in London.
the area where I live dosent even have traffic lights.
and the only CCTV is INSIDE the one and only food store.

Blame complacency , Most Americans have sat back and done nothing over the years as the Federalis grabbed ever more power under the guise of National Security at the expense of Civil and Human and STATE rights. And its as much republicans to blaim as the left wing Democrats . Every conflict, global tension, terror attack has given the Federalis and excuse to grab ever more power and become ever more repressive. Basically the US government no longer puts protecting the people and the United States first and foremost, NOW the US government is all about protecting itself and the state apparatus. Over the years I have read American pundits reporting ever more attacks on, and erosion of your Constitution and Bill of Rights by the state.

Jefferson saw this coming as a "natural" evolution of a democracy as power is consolidated and people move to large cities and lose touch with the country. And it's something he feared would be the end of us, but many would not listen to him. Even to quote him now is considered treasonous.

The Electoral College was meant to slow it down and the Second Amendment was meant to be the last resort. Both under constant attack now by the left.

The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.

I’m ok with surveillance. Two main reasons are one, they do stop a lot of terrorists and crime. And second is there isn’t a darn thing you can do about it so why worry and stress over it. Don’t do illegal things and you’re probably ok.
One thing that does surprise me is with all the constant watching, why hasn’t crime gone down a lot more?

Three guesses and the first two don't count. The crime rate does not go down because video is viewed after the fact and would be called racial profiling.

and when they criminalise gun ownership? private investments? home ownership, private vehicles, knives?, batons? growing your own food to sell the excess, private water wells?, right wing books?, home schooling ?, being Jewish? Public gatherings, Trade Union membership. Industrial action, Wood burning stoves, Owning more than one house, having more than $10,000 savings, Being an NRA member, etc etc ALL things the left have suggested tried or impliemented in the past. The Uk has the highest concentration of CCTV in its cities in the whole world, the met Police have 900 officers alone monitoring the web. So far they have not stopped ANYTHING.

And dont say it will never happen, We in the UK never thought we would see ALL THREE main political parties do their best to overide and ignore democracy, but they did.

Then we have Constitutional law versus ochlocracy (mob rule) stripping citizen of Constitutional rights. We have many states that allow the citizen to gather enough signatures to put measures on the ballot, this is how california, oregon and washington passed all it's gun control measures allowing just a couple of counties dictating for the whole state. Many federal courts don't want to get involved and the only way I can figure is that the federal courts don't want step on the rights of the states!?!?

Exactly. We have to stand up for all our rights, because otherwise they will all be taken away, little by little.
There's a quote, from German pastor Martin Neimoller “First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” He was a controversial figure but I always think of this quote when I consider how important it is to defend all our rights and the rights of everyone, whether or not we agree with them.
 
It's hard to get away from. I personally do not have a smart phone. They are way to invasive on privacy. But my wife does and I have this here computer so I'm sure I'm being tracked. Heck even my truck has a navigation system that I bet has the ability to watch and listen and possibly even be shut down at will. But I have to have something big and comfortable for the amount of driving I do. I'm hoping to disappear from all of it soon!

I don’t think you could get away from it all today. Good or bad, I think it’s just the way it is and it will continue to become more intrusive as technology develops. I can’t imagine not having GPS, instant work news, TV with 200+ channels, etc. (granted, there’s still not crap worth watching most times). Overall it’s a fair trade off.

Some of you liberals say the silliest things. You were all screaming about privacy when the Repubic's instituted Homeland security. Now your all willing to roll over in the false hope of "security".
I’m just smart enough to know that it is going to continue wether I want it to or not. I’m also wise enough to only worry about the things I can control in life.
 
well big brother may be watching,but they only see so much,,,,it's not like they are following to many of us around with cameras ,,,,,,if they were there would be no mass shootings,,,no robberies,,,face it they would if they could but they just don't have enough people to watch us all the time
