Santiago Armijo, 17, is one of two teens involved in the murder of Larry DeSantiago, 25, at a park in Albuquerque in March 2018. Without question the "justice" system is broken. People who personally chose to partake of a natural plant or other "substances" and yet caused no harm to others nor their property have received heavier sentences than this.

I've heard of people getting harsher sentences for shoplifting.

Hang on... this may work out better than a long sentence.

Let this thug out. Let the family of his victim know. They may have someone who will "take him out" soon enough. Everyone wins (well, the whole world less 1 murderer), even taxpayers who don't pay a decade-long prison bill.

I think lots of crimes should be dealt with this way. Let the other family 'work things out'. Just make sure there's no body found later.
