We've been under a heavy blanket of wet cold fog for the past 4 days and nights (low clouds) Everything has been dripping moisture, can't see 25' in front of us, driving in it is hell'ish, fog lights don't work in this.

Kind of like it was when they filmed the original First Blood out there ?

Psalm what is the deal with the local tv stations running the scroll about a freeze tomorrow night? It's continuous.

They are treating it like a blizzard or something.

First hard freez of the year . Bring plants in or protect anything you dont want to freez . Test that antifreez in your vehicle .

Got up at 5 am this morning to break the ice on the pond for the cattle. Normally I drive the 4 wheeler out in a shallow area until the ice breaks. But today the ice was a little too thick so I had to jump on the ice until it broke. Then we drove 8 hours north to visit the kids and grandbabies. Got 3 inches of snow tonight so far. When we get home tomorrow night I'll use the Jeep to break the ice.

After over twenty years, I'll get to spend the winter in a warm friend's house in Manchester and then my cousin's warm house in Scotland. Can't wait. I like a cold bedroom with a warm duvet and blankets on the bed, and rarely close the bedroom windows, but sitting in my living room to study, wrapped in a layers of thermals, a duvet, hat and fingerless gloves, is no fun!

don't you have any heating where you live?

My house doesn't hold heat. Neighbours' houses do; over the road does; but not mine. Fully insulated the loft a few years back: no difference. Carpets with thermal underlay: no difference. Thick curtains and other draught-proofing: no difference. New boiler and radiators: no difference. It's ley lines, I tell you! I'm used to it, now, and will probably overheat at my friends' houses.

yeah, wife has studied ley lines she's into all that.
we have a cast iron ESSE stove, its electric because the house is all electric, but its the only heat we need most times, we have a convector heater in the hall but only use that when its really cold.
we are only a few miles from Dartmoor and that's the direction our weather comes from, the sun has to come over the moors before it gets to us, the house faces East so we get the rising sun.

It's suppose to get down to anywhere between 42 and 28 the next few nights.with rain in the forecast for Sunday and monday.with 28f for tuesday morning.guess i'll be doing my share of cooking those days.for the extra heat.just to keep the heating cost down.at least somewhat.

I am down here complaining about - high of 40 degrees. Some friends of mine went camping this weekend... umm no thanks! Not unless I can camp at the Holiday Inn

My lawn guy and a church group were scheduled for a camping trip this weekend. With it in the 20s they cancelled. That's just too cold to be out in the woods. I don't care how good the down sleeping bag is.
