We were doing a job yesterday adding can lights under a stores canopy. The temps were in the thirties, but the wind was so strong and gusty that you couldn’t leave a ladder standing without holding it. Our supplies would roll away too. Was a hard 5hours in that mess, but the job is done at least. Before I left the house I dismissed the idea of long johns under my clothes. It took about three minutes out there before I regretted that decision.

I still have to reorg my bob,but otherwise I'm ready, got my self a new jacket, that allows my layer clothing approach and despite being a city dweller
I'll have to get some petroleum for my coocker and lamps, just in case.

Got 50 liters of Alcohol for the stoves, Re-packed the BOB with winter gloves, extra energy bars in the GHB, used the meter to check all the AA, AAA, C and D size batteries in the panty, set up 4 candles with holders in the right places. Checking the pantry and barrels of food, found all total of 245 BIC lighters. A company went out of business and had a box of 2000 lighters with the company LOGO on them and I grabbed what I could carry. 400, but I spread them out amongst the family...ONLY 245 left over!! What am I gonna do with JUST 245 bloody lighters??? Gotta go shopping! LOL,:lame:

It's going to be 15° tonight. No idea about wind chill. Had to take mom to doctor today and the wind was vicious. I would have stayed in all day too if I could have. Only got 2 eggs today and they were really cold.

My son says it's too cold to go to school.

Arctic Dude is laughing at us whiney brats who can't handle a little cold weather.
Not at all Robin. Cold is far worse when it isn't normal for your area. Plus, your humidity is much higher than it is here and that makes it feel colder too. The wind can make it miserable too.
I am enjoying the warm weather that we're having right now. We had our first snow in September and our first zero degree day in early October, but now it's only in the 20's at night and 40's during the day. With no snow on the ground yet, and warm temps, it makes my chores and trapping much easier.

Yes the wind was really cold and strong yesterday. We have sunshine and 37° now. It's a heatwave.

When we break winter records in November, that's not a good sign.

yup, combine cold and humidity and it's shyt, when the gulf here freezes, winters are okay, cold, moist sea air can really make your day bad,
right now it's rain again,we had snow for a few days,it felt good as it wasn't so dark.

A bunch of my collards wilted it was so cold here last night. And they are supposed to be extremely cold hardy.

I left some plants thru summer and they straggled on until it started cooling off, then they were resurrected! I hope they survived as some fresh greens sound really good right now.

Since I'm getting a stove, son and I spent day cutting and carrying wood.

My son started pulling a vine and didn't know it was poison ivy. Made him strip and hop into shower,

I'm exhausted but got a good workout. Can't believe people pay a gym for exercise.

It's beautiful sunshine and 50° today. Great day to be outside.

I had two weeks worth of wood stacked inside. The recent cold snap burned through it in three days! I got it restocked today. Luckily I have close to two years worth of firewood right now.
Don't you mean you have 5 months worth of firewood right now?

Now that it's cooling down some I need to keep the wood stove burning 24/7. Of course when I'm out all day the fire goes out and I return to a cold cabin. The new house has a better wood stove that will keep coals for around 12 hours, plus the house has better insulation. It also has a backup propane furnace. I keep the thermostat set to 55 so it never gets too cold inside. The house should be finished by next week.
I'll finish the roof on the new wood shed today and start filling it. I calculate that it'll hold over 10 cords of split wood.

Good job. I'm going to cut more wood today. I'm just being slow today.

I can only cut smaller logs because I'm using the pole saw. The New stove wont take large logs. Specs say 23" max length.
Sounds like fun Robin. When I get back from feeding I'll start on splitting wood. I only have about 2 cords left to split. Got 6 cords split already.
I think you need to borrow a husband with a chainsaw and get your winter's firewood in.

Lol, if we get into the 20’s like this last cold snap then your about right! We luckily don’t see that kind of cold often here. Hell, I’m usually building a fire for 50 degrees. Then one load in the stove keeps the house nice all day.
