I got two thick rib eyes on the grill right now, a large dish of homegrown sliced red potatoes with ham and onion in a cheese sauce, and a French bread loaf with butter, garlic and mozzarella cheese on it. The steaks are half way done and the bread is just about to go in the oven. I'm so hungry right now from the smells that I'm thinking really rare steak!
I hope everyone else is having a good meal out there tonight too.
 
On day 3 of no power from Irma, took out some chicken breasts to thaw, then grilled them up with some mesquite sauce (McCormick), and served over chicken pasta (those Knorr sides). Was damn yummy. No power doesn't have to mean no taste...LOL.

On day 1 of no power, I had already crocked some mojo pork just before the storm, so just had to heat that up on the grill (pork loin in mojo sauce with sliced onions, served over yellow rice).

On day 2 of no power, had also already crocked some chicken stew, so just reheated that on the grill.

Still have quite a bit of stuff in the freezer and fridge, all still cold (frozen stuff still even frozen), 70 plus hrs after losing power!!! The trick is...before the storm, we froze a LOT of water bottles in the standing freezer. When the power went, we then chucked them all in the fridge and freezer, to keep it all cold. I'm amazed it lasted this long, but damn!
 
Glad to hear from you Gaz, as well as the storm not kicking your butt too bad. I just got internet back today, and had no power or phone for four days. I cycled the generator on at least three times a day to keep the fridge and freezer cold, and was able to take hot showers here so it wasn't so bad. Hardest part was not having a computer for the business, and the lack of cell reception. Anyways, life getting back to normal and no damage to any structures here at least. Ate a lot during the down time.....
 
Chilean Sea Bass, salt and pepper then lightly floured and pan seared in butter and olive oil. Topped with Marsala wine reduction sauce with capers. Sauteed sugar snap peas and mushrooms. All on a bed of white rice. (to soak up the sauce and mushroom gravy)

And if you think it sounds good, you have no idea...it taste's even better than it sounds.

Found the recipe online and it's really simple. The hardest part is finding fresh Chilean Sea Bass, LOL

I saw a documentary that said 80% of all the fish bought in stores is mislabeled, so unless you take a fishing vacation and catch it yourself, or check its passport, just enjoy the fish.... :)

Chilean Sea Bass is hard to fake. It would be like selling eye of round as filet mignon. I was down on the coast over the weekend and went to Joe Patti's fish market in Pensacola. I was looking for something different, and when I saw it, I had to have some again. There used to be a restaurant here that served Chilean Sea Bass years ago and this is the first time I've seen it either in a market or a restaurant since. Believe me, this was the real thing!

I was looking for something different, and when I saw it, I had to have some again. There used to be a restaurant here that served Chilean Sea Bass years ago and this is the first time I've seen it either in a market or a restaurant since. Believe me, this was the real thing!
One thing that helps is when you buy a whole fish you can recognize it. Once filleted it's a different story.
 
Made cinnamon rolls this morning with my sourdough starter.

Some with pecans & some without. Had a can of condensed sweetened milk so used that to make icing. Dinner is shrimp and deer sausage jambalaya simmering on the stove right now.

Not really for dinner but we made it for dinner.

Hash browns, diced apples, onions (olive oil and butter), sautéed bell peppers and onions (butter) with a hint of sugar, steamed smoked diced ham (then stir fried) then mixed it all together, now waiting as Lisa cooks up the eggs and english muffins w/blackberry jam
