What should I add to this BOB?

Wow!! Theres a lot on that list I would not put in my BOB.
This list is still over bloated in my opinion but, its a beginners list. As you gain more experience you'll dump a lot of gear. Get the SAS survival guide. They have a pocket addition. I have always said "knowledge is lighter than gear"!!

I'm actually pretty familiar with the outdoors. The book is really cheap though if it is packed with great information!

did read it once when found it years ago at my library...wasn't prepping in those days..must put to my wish list

What does SAS stand for?
 
Special Air Service, a British unit, if you are enemy, you don't wanna face those guys...you never know where they come from..
 
but make that bob look like you,as you are already familiar with outdoors you know what you need and what's usefull, then you can add stuff according to season and weather
 
Actually, pretty similar to my BOB (the image and site).

Since I'm in a warm climate though, I nixed the sleeping bag and use a tarp (to make a tent) instead of the hammock. I also don't have a change of clothes, just socks and underwear (if they are wet, I hang them to dry, no issue being naked if in the woods...clothes just take up a LOT of room). Dish soap? (sorry, but water cleans off dishes just fine in a bug out situation). The collapsing chair is also just way too much room. Solar battery charger? (maybe if to power an e-reader loaded with books). Sandals or Crocs? (no way, hiking boots). Bible? (yeah, no, though if religious, a pocket version would suffice). Fish and bear traps? (a bit much).

Other than that, pretty much what I have, and maybe a few other odds and ends extra (like a snakebite kit, and more robust first aid kit). Looks like a pretty good list, one of the best I've seen actually, other than a few ridiculous items.
 
If you plan on carrying that weight, I hope you are in shape, I keep sheer panty hose in my B.O.B. (to wear) I also suggest good suspenders, on long treks you will lose some weight and the worst thing to do is tighten your belt, a restricted gut will play hell and possibly cause lower back pains, the panty hose will help lessen the impact on the lower extremities, my B.O.B. is 65lbs I can walk 5 miles with very little impact at 10 miles I am ready to set up camp, as far as the energy snacks throw em out, I strictly use raisins and tuna fish in oil in a sealed bag, I pore the raisins in the open tuna fish bag mix and eat as I'm walking (really not bad) I'm not looking for an enjoyable taste good meal I'm looking for quick lasting energy that doesn't have the downside of sugar products!
