we are on our own right now,,,,all they do for the most part is give the public a hard time for a driving infraction ,when you do happen to need one it is hours before the Police show up and in that time the PERP will kill maim rape or rob and be long gone by the time THE POLICE SHOW UP

THE POLICE ARE A CLEAN UP CREW,,,,,THEY COME IN AND PICK UP THE PIECES AFTER THE CRIME HAS BEEN DONE.................................

They don't even do that most of the time. They're just there to file a report.

I was robbed once,at my BANK on the way back to my car......................I sat in the parking lot for 4 hours ,,,,,,,the police never showed up,,,,,,no blood no weapons so I was not worth the time to bother with,,,,,,I AM STILL BITTER ABOUT THAT

The question is, what would you do, not what the cops should do. Now being robbed coming out of the bank would make me a bit PO'd and them not coming to take a report would be more added irritation, In a WROL, we would not be going to the bank and if we did, we would not be leaving our firearms back in the vehicle.

Question if at home, what would you do after hearing the announcement? Block teh doors, barricade, bug out and how?

If at work, what would you do to get home? Walk, drive, carry GHB, travel by day or by night?

I haven't seen a policeman to speak to for 20 years-since I left the city, they have closed all the rural stations, the nearest police station is in a small city 30+ miles away, that's at least 45 minutes drive on our roads.
police in Britain do not patrol the streets, maybe they do in the city centres but that's all, police do not stop crime they only react to it, if its "minor" crime like theft or burglary they just give you a crime number for your insurance company, THEY DO NOT ATTEND, but make some remark about a transgender person and they'll be on you like a ton of bricks!!!!

it would depend on where you lived and why they had walked off

what you do will depend greatly on where you live,a little place like where I am would just be another day,now move it to a larger menu ,I am armed at all times because the looters and thugs will be out in force

we have known for a long time in the South west of England that if anything like a catastrophe happens we are on our own, that's not just Police, but Government- national AND local, medical services-doctors, hospitals, dentists, ambulance out here in the countryside will more likely have rotor blades than 4 wheels, we still have fire brigades but they are part time not full time.

Cops not responding to shoplifters?

No wonder retail is going under. Toys R Us just went bankrupt, and Sears is on its way.

I remember responding to a Walmart call where a security person restrained a shoplifter, and the shoplifter's partner threw liquid lye into the guard's face.

They still walked out with their $50.00 toaster oven, and the guard was disfigured and partially blind.

All over $50.00.
He should have been shot on the spot, hopefully fatally.

What's fueling the spike in crime in Atlanta?

Is it drugs?
OF course! Just watched most of Sicario last night. One dude said if 20% of the population would stop snorting and shooting this junk then there wouldn't be a problem.

It would be a shame if that guys picture ended up posted around town.... of course then you would be the one prosecuted for defamation of character or some crap.
I guess being on your own means some vigilante justice. A house was raided in the closest town to me, population about 900. Meth bust, I would love to go loot the house while they are in jail. Brother says don't do it you'd get caught. Dang.

I was just shocked when I heard the story... I agree, having so many cops catching speeders, which of course is a big Moneymaker for them, is a much lower priority in my opinion.
it is not as hazardous writing a ticket, makes money, less paperwork, and the jails are full. Might as well do something other than arrest the crooks, the judges just let them go home anyway.

When I managed for a major department store years ago, we had off duty cops that worked security. DPS, city & sheriff. There was a guy who was masterbating behind a fixture watching a sales woman. We got him on camera and the officer would not do anything except escort him out of the store! I couldn't even get him to trespass the guy so I could at least get his name and info to give to my hunny who was a cop at the time to arrest him later. I was pissed! And after complaining to the main store manager nothing happened and that cop stayed on the payroll. It was almost closing time and the jerk didn't want to stay late and deal with the paperwork.
I'm telling ya people are going to get sick of this crap. Men used to deal out some justice, beat the tarnation out of him some night when he is out on his own.

Few years ago when I lived on the edge of town a drunk homeless guy tried pushing his way into my house. I ended up having to grab him and carry him to the sidewalk after he tried pushing me out of the way. My wife called the police to get this idiot off our property and they got mad at us for stopping him and not calling the police sooner. Ya okay what am I supposed to do invite him in and make him a coffee while I wait for the police to show up. Me and my wife are one thing but when my son is in the house I’m not going to mess around.

MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (GRAY DIGITAL MEDIA) -- A Kentucky sheriff has told the local fiscal court he is suspending all law enforcement activities because of lack of funding.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Martin County Sheriff John Kirk took the stage without invitation at a fiscal court meeting Monday. Kirk said his office is still owed a $75,000 payment due in January. He also complained that new obligations placed on his office will add $99,000 to his annual expenditures.

On his personal Facebook page, he posted that residents should, "lock your doors, load your guns and get a biting, barking dog."

A large part of the problem is a sharp decline in coal severance taxes hitting Eastern Kentucky. Local government economic assistance fund money to coal-producing counties has dropped by 80 percent since fiscal year 2012.

Yeah, budgets are going to continue to get tighter and expenses are going to go up all over the nation. The reality is police and other govt agencies will slowly cut out more and more services. I believe in having a way to provide your own security.

we are pretty much on our own here as far as the police as concerned, you wont see a cop out here in the British countryside, all police stations have closed and police numbers are much smaller due to budget cuts, the only place you will see a cop is in the cities and the much larger urban centres. the nearest police station to me is at least an hours drive away.
