with one higher rated usually you don't have to worry about hurting it much just shear a grade 5 bolt every so often

There's a Tractor Supply about 125 miles south of me. When I go pick my wife up at the airport I'll stop by and look. It's only about 10 miles off my route to the airport. That reminds me, the wife fly's in this week.

I'm like you, GG, I'd like about 1/4 to 1/2 acre I'm only feeding two and on my previous allotment I always managed to have spare to barter or give away. It's been almost 2 years since I harvested home grown and I would never have believed how tough it has been, not just for fresh fruit and veg, but the lack of homemade pickles and canned fruit and veg has been dire. The Rhubarb jam I made this week is hopefully the first of a flurry of home grown and preserved stock to fill the shelves.

I think a lot of people over estimate how much ground they need just to grow fruit and veg.

I don't know how big our garden/orchard is going to end up being, but we have plenty of space to make it as large as we need. This spring we'll put in the orchard, berry's, asparagus and 6 raised beds. I have some brush to clear first. And once it quits raining and I get my tractor back I can start digging holes for the fruit trees.

that is a weakness that we share,,,,,,,,,,,,I want a new deer rifle,I know what I would like but would drop around $750 to have it or more ,,,I will settle for a upper for the AR in 300 blackout,it is 30 cal with a wide range of bullets and can be had for around $250,,simple economics

I guess not being rich makes us have to be practical!
plastic drums for planters,,,,,I have 3 of them,I am thinking cut them in half from top to bottom,they are almost 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide they would be a foot deep plenty of soil to grow in,3 tomato plant to a half or maybe a strawberry patch in planters,,,,they would make 6 big planters just screw 2 together so they don't rock or roll

If anyone is interested in fruit trees, now is the time. Most big box stores are discounting them about now. I've been watching for a while, and today got 4 more pear trees to plant. They are about six feet tall and were only 11.00 each. Yeah! I got two different types as I've read they pollinate better that way. I had planted bradfords earlier, then learned they don't produce fruit. What kind of crap is that. If I wanted a decorative tree I would have just left the natural trees there to begin with! Oh well, live and learn. Luckily I have a chainsaw as the damned things are about 8 inches round at the trunk now. Those babys are going to help keep me warm this winter, as that's about all there good for. Anyways, tomorrow I will put them in the ground, bringing my total of pear trees to five.

They plant Bradford pears here because the bloom all pretty and grow really fast. Oh yeah, you can fart on them and they'll break off when they get a little bigger. Good call on the chainsaw!

I'd not heard of Bradford Pears, so looked it up. Boy does that tree have a bad rep! I've just read it's on the Tennessee exotic pest plant council's watch list of invasive plants.

I tilled the outside edge of the garden fence so I could squeeze in a few more peanut plants. And I thought I wanted a smaller garden this year.... Damned stuff is addicting!

You can't really see them well, but these are three of the five pear trees that just went in. I still have to clean up the stuff I dropped to make a place for them. The fun never ends around here.
