As I've stated before, my goals for the next year or two are to finish all the loose ended projects that I can. If you think it's hard or expensive to do projects now, think how much more difficult it will be after shtf. Anyways, I spent the day laying some more flooring on the porch I closed in. I really do not like installing flooring, but it's easier on my wallet if I do it myself! Unfortunately it's going to take 2 more days to finish installing, then I still have to sand and finish with polyurethane. I may finish by the year 2020. :). I really would rather have put in pre finished flooring but A; I had his allready and B; I want this to look like an old farm house, and this is more authentic.View attachment 5498View attachment 5499

Brent...looks great...now I know who can come do my next flooring job! Very nice.

Looking great Brent!

I'll have to post some before and after pics as I work on the ManCave, maybe even my daughter's room.

She's decided on some Alice in Wonderland ideas that should be fun to do. While doing a Star Wars bathroom, LOL. (She's 22)

I thing growing up is highly overrated! You've posted some of your art work before, I'm sure it will be really cool for her.

Purchased a low hour Onan jenny last year. I need to get that on a trailer, get it checked out, and have an electrical hook up for mine, my dad's, and my great-aunt's homes. We all live together on the family farm. Also, I need to secure a legitimate BOL.

How big of a genny, and what fuel does it run on?

12 kW....mogas, unfortunately....200 bucks in it though.
For two hundred you can't go wrong. What is mogas? I recently converted my Miller welder/10kw generator to a tri fuel carboureator. I have a tank full of regular gasoline with stabil in it, but got a propane tank set for it. It took me a while of tweaking, but now it runs great on the propane. I still need a good connection to the house with a transfer switch, but will probably wait till I have a power outage before I actually get around to it!

As things often happen, forces one to re-list and re-evaluate.... No doubt these items will get shifted around as they have over the past couple of years, but I have been chipping away at them.

We actually did the pool area a year early, so that shifted some things around. (I got a $600 pool, with a $300 pump, for a total of $250, so couldn't pass that up)....also got a $400 gazebo for $200, so, we bit the bullet on these two. The kids aren't complaining, as they've been living in the pool since, so far.

This month:
- Finish up the pool and gazebo area (deck will come later, cheaper to just get a better ladder for now)
- Clear out the ManCave to be area
- Fix the roof in the ManCave to be area
- Fix Tractor

Within the next couple of months:
- Look for any fruit tree deals
- Entryway Koi pond and herb garden (had to compromise with the wife and have some non-herbal pretty flowers there too, though many herbs do flower). Two big expenses here, the stones to go around it, and the pump kit. We have the rest.
- Prep the ManCave walls, and paint it, put in flooring
- Convert the Tack Shop fully into a Scrapbooking Crop Room business (and re-brand signs, etc., it's about halfway there, but will need to be repainted, etc.)

Before end of year:
- Rain barrel in stable for backup water, another in garden
- Potable water barrel in garage
- Deck for pool
- ManCave fleshed out and usable (pool table re-felted, lighting all up, TV and karaoke setup, games setup)
- Start home canning (even if bought veggies)
- Clean out Garage
- Organize tools and workbench
- Yard Sale!!!
- A good, hunting rifle with scope (need more than some handguns and a shotgun)

Next year:
- Security Cameras (8) (mostly to make it easier to keep track of the horses, but security as well)
- Solar powered well and septic pump (this is just really important)
- Emergency hand pump for well
- Solar power tool charging station in garage
- Auxiliary food pantry in garage
- Up on base and portable HAM radios
- 3M film for windows
- Concrete planters/pillboxes
- Convert an unused stall into an auxiliary chicken coop (if disease hits post SHTF, better to have two groups of chickens). Until then, will be a place I can put my Cockatoo when she's being too noisy for guests, etc.
- Convert an unused stall into an art studio. Post SHTF, this will be converted to a medical room.
- Flesh out tack room to also have vet med capability, post SHTF, most would be moved to medical room.

After that:
- Incorporate more solar once it's more viable here
- Backup generator and propane tank
- Raised gas storage barrels with dispensers, gas treatment
- Automotive lift in garage

Wow, there you go with one of those incredibly detailed lists again. I only wish I was that organized so far out in advance! I have goals somewhat in mind, but am always spontaneous when an opportunity presents itself. If I get a deal on some material or something I can use, that's my current plan.

Same here...that's why the pool was a year early....but I do try and have some idea for timeline, just to shoot for. Inevitably, I miss the mark and play catch up.

My wife wants to go to a particular convention in Aug/Sept, but I really can't see us affording it. If she does manage to pull it off though, then that will sap money for some of the plans for a month or so. Personally, unless she makes some HUGE sales of the closeout merch in the shop, I just don't see a week trip in the cards.

CRV is a good car
I like it too
Mines a little older, but runs great. They really are a dependable and economical car. The downside is they are light weight. I have a tow hitch but can't pull much of a trailer with it.

At least I managed to get the lawn mower and the tractor fixed last month. We've got some new boarders coming that will get rid of my downed tree (got hit by lightning TWICE)...so that will save me about $1500 or so. Plus, their board will be good added income.

Because of the conventions my wife wants to do this month, probably not going to have the money to build the pool platform (but next month should work), but I am hoping to do at least the gravel and stepping stones this month. We'll also add a bluetooth speaker and bug zapper to the gazebo, based on our use of it all last month, and a couple more pool lights (the gals hate swimming in the dark at night and want more than the one light).

For now though, it's a great addition to our water prep, as well as a way to beat the summer heat. Highly recommended if you have the space for it, and these bigger, metal framed pools are really damn sturdy.

Now if I can just finally get to the garden this Sept. I'll be a happy camper. Is it really August already? Jeez....

Guns, lumber, communications (thinking shortwave radio), and more guns. We are really good on water (river, artisian well, rain barrels, pool and filtration) about 6 months food (storage plus chickens plus fihing plus garden) but weak on security and comm. One shotgun, one handgun, very little ammo. Also no type of communication other than am/fm/noaa.
