What are you ( not ) Prepping for ?

I don't prepare for planet collisions or a large meteor, I don't believe they are survivable, anything else is survivable, i'm not bothered about no oil or no electricity, I can live without them quite happily.

Another type of "doomsday" would be WROL (without rule of law) which could be anything from the aftermath of a hurricane in New Orleans to complete societal breakdown on a global scale...

I DO think that the US will end up going to war with Europe and or China, I dont think a comet or meteor is likely, I do think economic collapse is likely, I dont think Zombies are likely, I do think Islamism is a global clear and present danger, I dont think the Viral Hemorrhagic fevers are a major risk, I do think the EU will become a totalitarian EUSSR type state. I do fear another Spanish flu crisis , I dont think a Nuclear war is likely, I do think a Dirty bomb or bombs or biological attack by Islamists is likely, I dont think Climate change is a threat, I do think North korea will attack the south, I do think Russia will absorb Ukraine and the EU will intefere but NATO wont. My current greatest fear is MASS MIGRATION by many dozens of millions of Middle Easterners and North Africans to Europe and Latin Americans to North America will trigger MASSIVE troubles. I'm terrified of Socialism and what it means to every decent honest hard working westerner.

It's a fair point.

Thing is, if you can become more self reliant, then you're pretty much prepped.

Think of Walking Dead, for example, when the group came upon the farmhouse. Other than the zombies locked in the barn, not much had changed life-wise for them on the farm. Because they were already prepped.

some might say I prep for war when I joined the reserve unit here,so be it.
but I will learn new stuff,get some nice gear ( to keep for a few years ) and if it goes to shits,then I have more stuff to use,more knowledge to rely on.

there is something happening here,don't know what as my "beloved" prime called for a urgent meeteing with all the ministers...my only problem is who can I trust in my neck of woods??
thought I could trust my oldest son,but we have some serious issues right now, and my bro seems to have heart problems,so basically I'm a one man band right now..

I figure it's just a play on words. If you can say you're prepared for doomsday or the zombie apoplecypse then you're pretty well prepared. My favorite oxymoron on the site was an add for a muslum dating site on the opening page banner! I was suprised it didn't create a mutiny.

Any religious aspects on DPF usually raises hackles and objections, I respect those who have faith in deity's etc so long as they keep it to themselves

Doomsday is precieved differently by everybody.
For some people doomsday means zombies, for some a meteor, pandemic etc.
You can't plan ahead for all of em. You should try tho.

You still need:
Food
Water
Protection
Shelter

The "why" doesn't change that. So as long as you have those basics covered, you're fine.

Mid-West, West and South-West are full of modern abandoned towns, Picher, Oklahoma comes to mind, some due to environmental issues, economics and others for unknown reasons.

my prepping at this point is pretty basic,,,I live in the boonies so unless it is a all out nuclear war I am going to be here,,a good basement with one small exit door to the outside some solar panels to run the well and a few other items I have plenty of wild game and lots of places to fish nearby,,,,for me it will be a trip back to the mid 1800's,which is really not all that bad

Love this because a lot of people won't read between the lines.....( Trust ) IF you are lucky you will have ( one ) person you can truly trust up to a point......( Family ) who you think you should be able to trust, but you better keep your eyes opens and head on a swivel.....not picking on poster of comment....just as usual for me and for which so many disagree....you have to question everything and look at everything.......often our greatest threats are not disease, war or weather, but those closest to us....if you accept everything is good.....you just lost....
