I am researching ways to can food that does not require purchasing lids over and over. I have some tattler lids but I have read where there can be problems at times with seals, then I remembered that there were some old style jars like my great grandmother used that you can purchase new. So I found some, though not like the old ones but are Kilner jars and supposedly can be used over and over. Has anyone used these or have any knowledge about them to share?

Kilner jars are the UK equivalent of Ball canning jars and are used much the same. I have jars that were my mothers and are at least 60 years old that I still use, however because of their sentimental value, I stopped using them for canning a couple of years ago I don't use the clip top jars for preserving as they are too expensive, so I can only speak of the jars with screw bands.
Have a look here there might be some help.
