I swear sometimes I think we're in an episode of the Twilight Zone, or in some alternate reality or some dream state.

Two days ago the Georgia Governor learned that asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 were contagious. The new rule on masks is because the CDC has decided that asymptomatic carriers were spreading the disease and everyone needed to wear a mask just in case they had it and were asymptomatic so they wouldn't spread it to others unknowingly.

Is it my imagination that SIX WEEKS ago we already knew that????

WTF is going on???

So I had to go back and look at the posts from February.

Dr. Robert Redfield confirmed reports out of China that the virus can spread when the person is still asymptomatic, according to CNN.

What alternate reality are these people living in where nobody knew that before now????

They play ministry of truth with the collective consciousness and people's memories by distracting them with sensational stories and don't even have to resort to physically destroying or re-writing old newspapers. Years from now when a few people remember and say that a lot could have been avoided if the CDC hadn't lied to people for six weeks, those people will be called conspiracy theorists.

If you look on the CDC's own damn website, they have been saying that the general public didn't need to wear masks.

This is now. A week ago this was not the case. DON'T FALL VICTIM TO THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH.
What I am saying is that the information this is based on (that asymptomatic people can transmit the virus) has not changed. Yet the CDC's recommendations have, and their reasoning behind it has. Previously they were lying to people and saying that masks were not effective, because they wanted masks to be saved for health professionals only. (Even the statements on it didn't make sense because wtf would healthcare professionals use masks if they weren't effective) but all that was reported to the general public was "normal people shouldn't wear masks."

Not really, the reasoning is the same as before. What changed was the realization that the number of asymptomatic cases that are spreading the disease is much higher than they thought at first. They didn't think it was a significant number at first.

Here is what they said on March 1st:
Can someone spread the virus without being sick?

• People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).
• Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Yes, this is the twilight zone. Out of humor, I went on ebay & looked up the 'RZ' masks. They fit well, they filter well (N95 masks are junk compared to these), and when I got them ages ago they were $20 or $25 each with some filters. Look at 'completed sales' over the past 30 days. $25. $40. $75. Now they're $120 each. EACH. Not gold plated, just panicked people buying after it's too late.

Regarding spreading, their approach is insanity. You have to assume it spreads via every method possible until you find evidence to prove which ways it does not spread. OK, maybe not level 9000 nuclear biohazard suits, but the very basics are contact/aerial/residue-surfaces.

I'll give a comparison point. Let's say you find a snake in the wood pile, you don't get a good look so you have no idea the species. You assume it's poisonous until you know otherwise! Now, the stupidity above is to be expected from CNN but we're talking about the CDC... if they can't get it right for a good month then what good are they?

One thing I really like with the pandemic is how Trump is using private industry to force gov't agencies to either do the job right or be replaced. Trump gave the CDC far too long to develop a test and the CDC proved how incompetent they are. Trump said fine, and got private industry to make cheaper/faster/better tests. Trump let CDC/other gov't groups to show how much masks/respirators they have/can get. They flubbed it again, so he brought in private industry to fill their failings. At some point when this wraps up, Trump is going to shut down fast parts of the CDC / gov't groups and replace them with private industry who get things done on time & under budget.
