Patina turned out pretty good.

I'm looking at buying a Snow & Nealley "Hudson Bay Trapping" axe, with a 24 inch handle. They're hand made in Maine and the company has been around for a long time.
I carry a Gransfors Bruks hatchet in my everyday carry bag and in my trapping pack basket. I keep it sharp enough to skin a beaver if necessary, or any other big game animal.

A little off the subject, but I discovered an interesting author and military historian named Martina Sprague. You might want to check out her many books on knife fighting, swordsmanship, the fighting techniques and history of the Vikings, and so on.

She seems to have a lot of qualifications.

And, as a paramedic, I believe I can smell bullshit when it comes to people making statements about knife fighting and trauma.....and I don't seem to get that from her work that I've read so far.

Her website is www.modernfighter.com

You should check her out.

Thx,but you might find it useful there too.
and I can always make my neighbors happy by taking the grinder out and do some work ;)
like I did, when I made that little stove out of an ammo box..

and heaven knows when the mail here gets delivered again, there's gonna be a back log aprox a month or so,when they perhaps find a solution here..
