Almost every evening I have been going for walks down the road. Each time I do it I try to go further than what I have before. I am almost to the 2-mile mark and then I'm going to start wearing a rucksack. Then each time I do it I will increase the weight and the rucksack.

Life around here has just been busy with mainly the garden and goats. About 3 weeks ago I finally moved out the baby goats to the goat pasture than Tiffany (goat) ended up with a broken leg which had to get reset and bandaged. She is on the mend. My Billy Duke ended up jumping into the pig pen a couple days ago and now has a stretch tendon which is going to take a long time to get healed up. The babies are still getting bottle feed a coup!e times a day even though they could be totally weaned. I just enjoy it.

The garden is producing really good!! I got tired of cucumbers so ended up pulling up the pickling cukes. I did keep my slicing cucumbers though. I replaced those with purple bull peas. It's getting g that time of year that dry beans are going to be the only thing that grows well. Tomatoes have really started getting red and picked along with peppers so making and canning tomato items f or the stockroom. Squash is getting shredded and dehydrated. Eggplants getting marinated in olive oil and herbs. Herbs are being bunched together and hung upside down in window silos for drying. Onions braided to hang off stockroom shelves. corn has mostly been harvested, shocked and cut off the cob. Some in freezer, some canned up. Picked my first cantaloupe from the garden a couple days ago so still eating fresh. When I start getting more, I will be making those into jellies, canning in syrup and dehydrating.

Hunny fixed up a golf cart for me to use around our little place here and I had to girly it up by changing the seats to a pink vinyl with a pink front and pink pin stripe down the sides. Paint job is not complete yet since it started raining a couple days ago. The granddaughter loves it. . . Sure the other 2 will when they get a little older. I'm enjoying this grandparent thing to the fullest. Gotta have some fun in life.

I have several tomatoes on my plants. They are all green at the moment, but they are getting to be a pretty good size. My problem now is trying to control the plant. I didn't buy those cages. I thought I wouldn't need them until much later. My back yard looks like Vietnam.

Not sure if this counts or not, but I just got back from vacation in the Rocky Mountains. We stayed at a small cabin. When I say small, I mean small. It was about the same size as my bed room. It had a fireplace, small table for eating, a small kitchenette and a bathroom. It wasn't up to my cleaning standards ( I admit I can be a little over the top with that sometimes) I striped the bed to find a barley functional mattress pad. I went out and bought a new one. I cleaned pretty much everything from top to bottom. There was plenty clean in a small space. I noticed that the smoke detector even had dirt smudges on it. I stood in a chair to wipe it down, and I saw it didn't have a light on in it. I pressed the test button, and no sound came out of it. I looked around and noticed there wasn't a fire extinguisher either. The window by the bed was nailed shut. Only a small bathroom window with a crank open (no adult could fit thru that) and the window by the table opened. The table window and the front door were about 5 feet apart. I got pretty anxious thinking about if there were a fire how would we get out. We got back home to Texas and it still didn't sit well with me. I contacted the fire marshal in Colorado and asked him if it was a requirement to have fire extinguisher in a rental cabin. He said it was per state law (and some other law) chapter 9. I told him about the cabin with no fire extinguisher and non working smoke detector. He promised to go out to the property and check it out early next week. I don't know if he will or not, but I may follow up later next week to see if anything becomes of it. I would have mentioned it to the owners, but I kind of got the feeling they were only interested in doing the bare minimum based on the way the rest of the cabin looked (there were a total of about 8 cabins on the property and all looked a little neglected.

Anyways, I took my cleaning products with me on the trip, and my own sheets. My better half kind of teased me a little about it before we got there, but then he later admitted he was glad that I did :)
We also took our own bag of snack foods for the long road trip, plus our auto battery jump, and air mini air compressor.
I always carry disposable gloves and antibacterial wipes in my purse for public restroom stops.

You can always use a t post to stake in the ground and then tie the tomatoes up. Or any kind of large stake will do. Just be careful with the roots. With all the rain and warm weather we have been having it doesn't take things long to shoot up. I'm going to have a time of it trying to get all the weeding done when it finally stops raining long enough.

I mean no disrespect but are you OCD?

You made me laugh. . . which I so needed tonight! But I do understand wanting my own sheets. . . sorry but you just never know if they actually wash and change in some places. And the sanitary wipes are not a bad idea for public bathrooms either. I had an ex brother in law who supposedly caught Hep C using a public bathroom, but I had my serious doubts at the time.

Nah, I used to be, but I am feeling much better now :)
Just kidding... I don't think I am. I am a clean and organized individual, but people with OCD usual can't function through their day to day activities. I have no problem getting through my day, but I do like things to be neat and tidy.

Totally change the sheets if you can but defiantly change or don't use the bedspread. They never change those.

That is so true! I have seen too many undercover stories where they test hotel sheets. I saw one where the cleaning ladies were using the same cleaning rag they used to clean the toilet with to clean everything else with. ... so gross. Public bathrooms are disgusting. In biology we tested areas around the school with a swab and put them in a petri dish. The bathrooms grew bacteria faster than anywhere else...wild crazy looking stuff. The other place was the keyboard. I do clean my keyboard regularly.

From where I was coming from is that cabins are supposed to be rustic. Unless you payed big bucks for the rental that is.

My daughter worked for a major Motel chain for a while. The Sheets Were Always changed but the bedspread was never changed. They were pressured to clean the room as quick as possible because of Labor so basically as long as it looked clean it was good enough they didn't always wipe everything down and then did a quick vacuum to top it off.

They were rustic indeed. These were inexpensive. Probably some of the lowest prices around, and they accepted dogs. That was our main goal was to get something affordable that accepted dogs. The things in the cabin were definitely dated. I have zero problem with that, but I don't understand why it wasn't clean. Just because something is rustic, doesn't mean it needs to be covered in cobwebs, dust, dirt, and I am pretty sure dirty sheets and blankets. How much would it cost the owners to fork over a few extra minutes and soap and water to keep it clean for the people renting it?
