THE KIND OF NEIGHBORS NO ONE WANTS

I get along fine with my neighbors now, but that is the exception rather than the rule. I have previously always had nosy bitching neighbors that drove me crazy. The last place, the neighbor even claimed that sunlight reflecting off of the windshield of my van was killing his hedge. The place before that, I had a neighbor complaining about the grass in my back yard being too high (the back yard had an eight foot privacy fence!)

To be fair, in some places, maintaining an easement can give you a claim on it...so while I get the neighbor's concern, there's a right way, and a wrong way, to handle it. A nice conversation, a signed piece of paper, and a hearty handshake could have resulted in a clean property, and no hard feelings.
He had a great deal if only he had thought it through. It's not like it was a huge field, probably about 1 acre, but up front and next to their front yard. So what will happen is it will all grow up and be a mess and lower his property value and Dad's too. He had free mowing and but had to be a butt. He could have had Dad sign a no claim or paid him 10 bucks a month or something. Now, we know his character and it is not good. Better to know now than when after TSHTF. That is the silver lining of this cloud.
Personally I don't trust any of my neighbors, I don't actually like any of them. down around the corner there is a line of mobile homes scattered on a few acres. All four were on disability. I called it "disabililty row". I don't trust any of them but I just wave as they go by. I talk if they catch me at the end of my lane but just chit chat. they don't even get along with each other, had one ask me a couple of months ago not to say anything about them to one of their other neighbors. I told them I don't talk to anybody about anything. (Hint, like I mean time to go away now.) My feelings are I don't want to know what petty fights you people are involved in back and forth and back and forth. I don't want to hear it at all. This is what happens when 2 unreasonable and 1/2 bubble off personalities live next to each other. For instance, he says he is on his last treatment for lung cancer, he and his wife just got back from the doctor when they saw me weedeating the ditch. Meanwhile he is blowing cigarette smoke in my face, they are thinking of starting a kennel dog rescue because as his wife puts it " the vet asked me if I would do it", obviously the vet does not know that she and her husband are both on disability and what a junk yard they live in. Like, I say, "really". Hopefully that 5 minute conversation will last them at least a year. Someone pulls up, I'm like "on no". LOL
Once they tried to tell me the neighbors kids put a big scratch on their horses nose, I just acted disinterested said uh huh,and they dropped it. One neighbor insinuates that the other burned down their own trailer for the money. It's all a big fuss all the time. I don't even associate especially after trying to put together a watch group and there was disinterest in it. That would have been the only reason to talk was to keep crime down. I think there has been one burglary in 18 years in my neighborhood, nothing taken but some costume jewelry.

Oh, two great examples of morons.

Agreed.

Nice. When we do another pool (ours was taken out by Irma), I'll probably put at least a 6' fence up.

Wife house in town (a little outside of town) her closest and only neighbor, A motor cycle club owns the house/club house Gepsy Jokers, they pretty much watch over her and house. No one messes with it, over all they good neighbors though can be noisy, I hate see them go if (or when) the state or feds runs them. They helped her getting to property up here during the winter on several occasions.
