,my day,yup we will eat ,mow some grass and take at least 1 nap,,,,,,and then listen to the money being wasted on fireworks by the neighbors

We are having BBQ of pork spareribs, deer sausage, chicken and assorted grilled veggies. Potato salad and a creole tomato, onion, cucumber salad.
Swimming in the pool and playing horse shoes.
I will proably shoot off a few rounds into the pond with The Judge.
Then listening and watching the neighbors shoot fireworks..

BBQ ribs and enjoying the family company (kids and grandkids) Hank William Jr. Beer and Whiskey. No fireworks we under a severe red-flag warning, 18% humidity with 20mph winds gusting to 35mph with temps hovering 88deg and with campers up in the mountains we getting nervous. At 4am it was 70deg (bad news) USFS put another tanker on the property Monday.
We're so waterlogged here, you couldn't start a fire with a flamethrower. But skeeters are making any outdoor activity very unpleasant, so no outdoor BBQ. Might go to Shane's Rib Shack
Home alone because husband took my mom shopping.

Went to the parade in town. Then came home and did some weeding in the garden, picked some raspberries and watered. It was a warm 74 degs. Grilled a couple steaks and red bell peppers for dinner.
How far away was the parade? Isn't town an all day trip?

Well, we did a lot of stuff around the house, and then just wanted a nice grilled dinner at home. Some steak, some bacon wrapped shrimp, corn on the cob, and some green beans (with onions and bacon).
Our boy got off work around 6pm, so had dinner ready then. His sister worked till close (about 10pm), and their roommate was at home. We made enough for all though, so she'd be able to box hers up, and take a box to their roommate as well.
Sadly, in my rapid appreciation for the great food, I started woofing it down without chewing enough, and ended up getting stuck, and then going to the ER for the next four hours, for them to get it out. That wasn't so fun. And this is likely how I will die in the apocalypse. Choking on food thanks to my smaller esophagus.
On the bright side though, the next few days of eating soup will likely help me lose more weight....

Our nearest town is 20 miles away, population 500. This time of year it only takes about 35-45 minutes to drive to town, depending on how many cows are on the road. The trip to town lasted much longer than the parade.
The all day trip is when I take the wife to the airport, or go to Tractor Supply.

If we're actually hanging around with friends, it's worth it, and a lot of fun, but these days, we don't just because of the horses. (even though they are pretty bomb-proof). The neighbors' ones are far enough not to bother them, but if we did them, they'd likely get antsy.
Sounds wonderful
Gazrok about 2 weeks ago in was eating a raw sweet potato and didn't chew properly and it wedged in my throat. I tried to drink water to push it down and the water would come back up. I text my daughter and said This is it. I'm dying from a stupid sweet potato. Finally after lots of swallowing, it finally unlodged.
I am much more careful now. Sweet potato doesn't dissolve like ice.
that is your opinion,as for me I see fireworks as a waste of money,,estimated sales to the public $675mil take a look at the numbers for yourself ,

Last time I purchased fireworks were when the kids were small, I'm not into fireworks or the display of them but I am into the flag decorations and BBQs. Ok, call me a boring sourpuss, least my money were wasted on alcohol, will sort of, I was even cheap on that. :-/

Last year the neighbor did fireworks and unfortunately their drive is right up to my front gate and of course that is where they would light them. My poor goats went crazy. . . Even trying to climb walls. I ended up having to go sit in the barn with them to keep them as calm as I could. Thankfully the dad had to go to work the next day and gets up early so no fireworks. My hubby and I had to get up at 4:45 for him to go to work which means I go to bed at the same time as he does. The goat with the broken leg still is in the playpen at the foot of the bed. Next tues will be week 5 . Hunny walks past and she jumps out. . Twice last night. Get in bed and he forgot to take his meds so I had to go stand by her so he could get to the bathroom. Tiff does not like hunny and will cry if I'm not in there. Next week she is going out to the isolation pen.

My husband made up for all alcohol consumption. Not but yesterday, but on Tuesday night. Found him "asleep" by the pool.

Lots of people vacation at the lake the week of the 4th so we have some fireworks every night for about a week. My Lab and Golden were so scared, but they are both gone now. My two now just go to sleep. Mom's little rat dog stays in her lap trembling.

As for the money, at the time, we could afford to easily blow about $200 on some good fireworks. And we'd have about a dozen people all hanging out together, so we thought it was worth it. We also made sure we did it safely (and not surrounded by neighbors who weren't into it).
These days, I agree, not worth the money to us (NOW), but was then. I suspect others are in the same boat.

We actually stocked up on even more booze, but never got to it due to my little emergency room trip. Oh well, there are more weekends. We rarely even drink, so we always have a fully stocked hard liquor bar, bottles and bottles of wine, etc. These were more fun, cooler style drinks I got for this. (at least the kids (in their 20's) got some of it...lol.
