Ok peasants its the government here, We have now decided to give you the RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELVES, you may now tug your forelocks in gratitude. What was that question again ? Oh no we cannot allow you to buy and own anything PURPOSELY DESIGNED to let you defend yourselves safely you may actually hurt the burglar / rapist / terrorist / mugger we cannot allow that.

The police should return her confiscated crossbow, and publicly apologize for ever taking it. The officer that took her only means of defense, immediately after she was attacked in her own home with the possibility that a friend or relative of the attacker could try to seek revenge, that officer should be put on suspension without pay.

There doesn't seem to be any consequences for the "authorities" in cases like this. Forget consequences for the woman involved, she shouldn't even be bothered aside from getting the details of the attack. In my mind, she fended off a robber, then was robbed by the state for being successful.

on a different report there is a picture of the crossbow, its an Armex and it looks to me like the 80lb self cocking pistol crossbow, just goes to show that these things aren't toys and can do some damage.
the advertising says 235fps.
a pretty good tool for knocking down some small game.

Probably a target point and would be survivable. But when whats supposed to be inside the guts leaks into the abdomen then its like poison.
As a healthcare worker, I agree with you.

You're talking about a medical condition called peritonitis. It has an extremely high mortality rate, and is very difficult to treat even under the best of circumstances.

A death from peritonitis is slow and agonizing.

I hope the perpetrator gets medical attention soon...otherwise he's f---ked ...with a pinecone that's covered in tobasco sauce.

This is beyond a pet doctor giving out antibiotics on the side.

The patient requires round the clock nursing, IV fluids, constant antibiotics, abdominal surgery to remove necrotic tissue, measures to protect from kidney failure, and so on.

Dirty puncture wounds to the abdominal cavity shouldn't be underestimated.

I'll bet that the dirtbag is lying around dead somewhere.
