Can I just hang my garlic up and let it dry and use it when I need it.
I let mine dry separately, then when totally dried out, I braid it and hang it up. That's how I do with my onions too. It's just that I planted so much, I needed to find alternate ways to preserve.

Do you have like a smokehouse or someplace to store it. Mine are stinking up the whole house
I store them in the laundry room on nails. Located right off the kitchen and backdoor, so I can shut it off, but honestly haven't had any smells from it.

I dry my garlic and onions out in the sun after I pull them, once totally dried, you shouldn't have much of a smell at all.

Chick, just open a jar and start munching!

Thank you Danil and Chick for the pricing. I think my market days are done for the year unless I can do some mighty sweet, sweet talking to the Hubs and Fries. 2 of our 3 gardens are now plowed under. I am not a happy woman, but I wasn't given a chance to give input, he did it while my foot was being put back together.:(

???? Why in the world would he plow under the gardens? Even if I was on crutches that wouldn't stop me from getting out to the garden...what was he thinking? I hope your foot is better...I think I missed what happened to need the foot repair (somehow I thought it was your knee that was blown out for a bit)...I'm soooooo out of it!!!!

When I broke my ankle in three places last year and was on crutches for awhile, hubby thought that I needed to be pampered, to a point. And yes, I did for like a week, but I was stir crazy. Then I drove myself down to mom's in my standard truck and got her old wheelchair to get myself around outside. I wheeled myself around on my good leg backwards so I could go feed and water. Some men, especially the ones who love us, want to make us slow up when they think we are hurt. Apparently they don't know about strong-willed women. That is just my person experience.

You are only a few hours away and even if you have a shady yard, the heat alone (even with shade) would cure your onions for storage.
