You live by the sword.......... - A home on Bassroyd Drive Bassonia was broken into at about 03h30 this morning. The couple heard people in the house and found 4 suspects breaking into their house. The man of the house was confronted by 1 suspect in the house already.

The resident defended himself with a sword. The suspect in the house has been arrested and his accomplices fled.

A search by Mondeor SAPS, SOS Protecsure, CPF,D&D Tactical, FOX Security and Capital Air Reaction Services for the accomplices ensued but to no avail.

The suspect arrested we believe is part of a gang that has been targeting homes in Bassonia on Bassroyd and Johannes Meyer Drive especially homes bordering the open veld. The suspects tried to break into a home earlier this morning on Johannes Meyer Drive unsuccessfully before breaking into the Bassroyd Drive home.

Well done to the residents.

Rather a large blade for indoors fighting, I would suggest looking into what the Brits and Germans and Russians used in CQ conditions like riflesmans hawks, small entrenching tools with sharpened edge, short swords or long bayonet swords. Cold steel do a very nice collection of Hawks, and entrenching tools are garden implements and just be legal everywhere.

I keep a 85cm Wakazashi secondary sword by my bed

True but i think it was the only protection he had on hand, and he used it well.
