For any of the few Brit Preppers out there, I have found a useful site to buy solar chargers and powerbanks (similar to batteries).

I know I will be buying from HERE when I have the dosh.

One note about inverters. A lot of electric motors don't work well with modified sine wave inverters. Refrigerators will work but make a lot of racket and so forth. Some electronics don't like modified sine waves.

The pure sine wave inverters are significantly more expensive, but appliances are more efficient on them, and in a SHTF situation, you don't want to waste electricity.

This is supposed to be a good brand:

I've found another site which have more expensive set-up's as well as other stuff HERE

Until I found the site I just mentioned, I knew nothing about needing inverter's or sine waves in electric!

Also, God Like, your inverter is American, i'm talking about UK off-grid power supplies ;-)

Well EXCUSE ME! :)

But never fear, they do sell that brand in the UK...230 volt, funky UK outlets and all...

You're excused ;-)

Nah, you Americans have the funky outlets lol, your ancestors ran away from here, throwing away all their plugs and because of that, they forgot which way one of the pins went and as you can see, they got which way it was, wrong! Lol :p

watch out showing lights etc post collapse when the mains power goes down.
solar stuff is okay but post collapse how long will the inverters, batteries last? the solar panels might last 25-30 years but batteries only last as long as the chemicals do, which probably isn't that long. which is why I don't bother with it, i'm going old school, like it says below:

I believe that the battery bank that I ordered with my solar power system is guaranteed for 20 years. They do require periodic maintenance though.
