Sky News just ran a trailer for a show / program / ?? called
THE DOOM BOOM its about preppers, no dates yet but being Sky expect a view of Merkins with guns and other anti prepper hysteria

Trailer shows moderate type US preppers, vehicles, kit, opinions, vehicles and of course guns saying stuff like " we are just normal folks trying to protect ourselves"

Being Sky expect lots of good footage and a hatchet job in the back.

Media hype influance on people . Its funny I have seen folks from the cities come out to the rual area to visit relatives and we would be driving past old farm houses and hay barns with cattle one of the most safe places on Earth away from the Urban crime and gangs but the visitor would be scared the hillbilly's were going to get them .

The trouble is that one unfortunate incident that occurred many years ago still gets air time on British news and forums.

It transpires a British tourist from Scotland was on vacation in Texas some years ago and he lost his way as it was getting dark so he pulled over his car and walked up to the front door of a rural texas house and knocked on the door intending on asking directions. Unfortunately the home owner thought the chap was an intruder and fired his gun through the door killing the tourist.

Lots of crimes happen in every Country but something like that makes a news story and the media runs with it . I don't know anyone that would just shoot through their door the home owner must have been drunk or crazy . Bad things happen to American tourist around the globe sometimes the lideral media will still blame the U.S .
I do remember the Japanesse exchange student in New Orleans during Halloween that had gotten intoxicated and walked up to the door of a house and couldn't understand the home owner and the home owner made a bad decision and shot him . With firearm ownership theres a large responsibility . When you look at the bigger picture with the millions of firearms owned in the U.S these kind of things are very isolated . But the Hillbilly phobia is undeserved , mabe we can make it the new hate crime and have our own special intrest group .

I think tragic acidents like that are inevitable unfortunately, look at the worse alternative her in the UK about ten year ago some robbers attacked a farmer in a rural farm on the coast, the robbers were armed and shot the farmers dog and threatened the farmer, he dialled 999 even though he had a shotgun but he did not use it because another farmer called Tony Martin got a life sentence for shooting a robber the same year. The police took over an hour to get to this guys property, in the US an hour could be a lot of dead people.

I remember the farmer that was arrested for self defence it made the pages of several outdoor magazines here . In a hour a group of thugs could pillage and plunder a unarmed family that had no means to defend themselfs . Iv talked to a number of police officers that have said the worst crime scenes they have been to were home invasions where the family was home and the criminals took control .

if that happened here,I would be prosecuted and would be convicted...they tend to understand criminals way too much here,but still I would protect me and my loved ones,kinda prefer to be alive

Thers alot of left wing political groups here that would like to have the U.N here influenceing our law making . I think we have done well on our own thus far .

yup,first they wanna protect criminals.....way back comes the ordinary citizen who follow law..thank God our police here is ok,though we have our first high ranking police who danced with the bad guys,he was in charge of the drug investigations,not any more,he's jailed,but still the problems here are the courts,not the police
