I think you're prepared.
It cuts pretty thick wire at that, with little flat head screw driver on the front. The days before the multitool.I`ve got the same problem, i`ll have to swing by our military surplus store to get one of those, totaly forgot about them, lovely tools, that notch on the front end of the blade fits over a piece on the scabbard, and bobs your uncle youve got a wire cutter ### well.
Every thing I ever read on survival talks about knife is the number one tool to have, my leatherman/Buck used to be welded to my hip bone, but in OZ caring any kind of blade in public area is illegal. Not so bad as in rural area. The bigger problem is when you start putting them under your pillow.
Its real intention was be used for clearing brush when camping it failed according to me, I`ve got one of those cheap chinese machetes much more effective, its filed with all may other tools.I would be careful with that gerber BG POS, hang it on the the wall as a conversation piece or wear body armor if you plan to use it

Gerber is now owned by Fiskars Brands Inc of Finland. Gerber used to be a quality knife made in the USA. Some models are still made in the US, but many are made in China now. Always check the label. I personally wouldn't buy any knife, or any product that my life may depend on, that is made in China.had this for some odd 25 years, any ideas about the quality??
it's a Gerber, design by Blackie Collins, made in Portland USA

My son had one, he was chopping hardwood breaking the handle towards the end around the nut and lanyard, come to find out it's only a compression bolt,, the tang didn't go all the way to the bolt, something that's made for chopping but only affixed by one bolt with the remainder compressed by plastic is not just dangerous but pure insanity IMHO
My favorite knife I carry on the trap line is a Bowie made from a horse rasp with an elk horn handle. Its great for chopping and around camp.Best machete I ever had was a home made one cut out of a piece of van old leaf spring.
