When I worked the shrimp boats out of Port Bolivar in my youth we gone to Mobile and Bayou La Batre all the time :)
We were just in that area last night to go visit the newest grandbaby.

As for random people just showing up at my house, id be very leary. . . Did this listener do a search to find your address? Follow your husband home one day? Just sounds creepy. I don't like unexpected visitors at all, but they don't go past the gate unless it is a meter reader who rings the bell first and I get the dogs in.

I live on a gravel road in the middle of a S curve since 2014 the road is damned ruff everyone slows way down thru this spot ,,,,save for this A-HOLE,the dog was almost across the road from my driveway ,,,,he simply was going to fast and not watching,,,this POS is a regular around here so he knew about the dogs,,,he just didn't care,,,,,,,,,,,,,a lot of people in this old world think it's just a damned dog ,,,it best get out of my way,,,,,

Thoes kind of situations concern Me . I deal with the public alot at work and sometimes have to piss People off . One could not find info on Me so looked up a reative and tried to get info , didn't work out for Them . Then Anyone not familiar with this area or rual areas are not very comfortable when They leave the main road and head into the country side . It must remind them of Wrong Turn . I work in a more urban area of another County than where I live .
Yes the Person that showed up on Your porch would be a concern . I would suggest a fence and good dog or dogs .

He has a habit of being at the places if any of their people are doing a remote (like a celebrity golf tourney etc). He actually follows another host more than my husband.

Don't know how he found us. I'm sure it was easy to do. Husband talks about fishing at the cove by the house, etc.

I'll always keep my big pointy sticks handy. We have a gravel drive so people can be heard if I'm paying attention. (Oops)

Think I would still invest in a good watch dog at least to help protect you, your son and your mom. I know I left out one resident but you can read into that what you want. . . If I remember though, you already have a dog? Does it help alert when people come by? Just if you are home next time he drops by, give him a warning shot first. Maybe he will think twice about coming by.

Yes, I have two large dogs, Austrailian Shepherd/Jack Russell mix. (Still trying to figure out how that happened) and a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix. Mom has a BijanPoo. They all bark, but the Australian Shepherd is very protective and guards us while outside,

She always stands between me and any visitor we have. I move and she moves too. She's a pain, but then she does something brilliant.

I realize that normal is often a misused word but I don't see that type of behavior as normal. He is not aware of how his actions affect others or he does realize and doesn't care or is doing it on purpose. Either way, it is creepy. He gets something out of it. Watch for escalating behavior and take care.

He is either an idiot, a nutcase or evil. I'd say that most of the time it is hard to tell the difference, what is his objective? Tell him not to come back and what the possible consequences would be if he does.

I got the rotties outside (3) but rarely bark, they just watch, anyone gets close to the house they get between the stranger and the house and just growl, inside the house Lisa has her dobermans (2) they don't bark either, some how Lisa's dogs get alerted to what the rotties are doing and start walking the house but it's her papillons that bark at everything (worthless dogs)

Very odd behavior.

Yes, I can't picture the Jack Russell either. Had to be persistent
I can tell you that a friend of mine had an argument with her husband, said you better get that dog spayed and he said no there was no way that little male could mate with that large of a female dog. She actually witnessed the little dog get up on the well and the female backed up to him. It happens. Ate crow.

The kind that bark when a leaf turns over in the yard. That sort gets on the nerves.

Where there's a will, there's a way
