As most of you know, I live in the woods with my special needs son and 85 year old mother. My husband isn't home much. (Insert smiley face).

The other night, my son had a meeting with his Special friends. When I get home, my husband tells me that on of his listeners had come to the house just to chat.

He didn't let him in, but he kept hanging around on the porch.

I told my husband that I hoped he had told him that if he had come when I was there, I would have shot him.

He said he never thought of it. MEN!!! Jk guys. I have no idea what this guy even looks like. I don't like it at all. We are very private and don't have drop ins and never, ever after dark.

I rarely ever get uninvited guest and if I do they never get past the gate, if it weren't for the doctor, supplies or needing to haul things back to the property I wouldn't never leave.. living a hermit's life but then again, the wife gets a vote on the hermits life "I am not as old as you.. NO" (personally I think it's age discrimination)

Can you get security cams? I have ones from Blink right now. They provide a pretty good picture and and they are only about $99 per camera. This way you could see who was at the door when you are away from home. Ours have been useful we are thinking about upgrading soon.

People knocking on your door in the suburbs is common. Where you live, it’s pretty unusual and scary.

Once the house is finished there won't be any need for strangers to come around here. Everyone on the work crews always asks if they can come up here and hunt elk. My answer is always NO.
I don't mind when people that I invite come to visit, and other than the construction workers nobody ever comes up uninvited.
Soon the Forest Service will lock their gate cutting off public access to thousands of additional acres of land surrounding my place. I've got a key to the gate so I'll have the only vehicle access until next June.

I have dogs :) I have cams in the stable and pens but that's more for predators not humans, it's kindly a remote area and vehicles can be heard for some distance not to mention headlights can be seen miles away during the night, the road is in a canyon and my property set above the canyon overlooking it, we got 2.25 miles of the road that we jokingly call the kill zone.

I am ignorant of what you are talking about. Somebody's listener came to the house? who's? and what is a listener? Does it have something to do with a support groups or something? Is this someone from the meeting that followed them home?

Looks like paradise

Unexpected visitors at night, to my place, first see a locked gate.

So if I hear a knock, they better have a DAMN good story. (and I'll be armed when hearing it).

It's a good point for getting an intercom system though.

Me: Idaho Montana Utah Northern Arkansas Kentucky, kids are wanting me to move to Texas (my home state)

Wife: Arizona New Mexico Nevada and Alabama (where she was born)

Yeah... you’d love Alabama.... it’s 96 degrees here today, humid as hell. Heat index made it to 104 today.

As for nights, middle 70’s and continued humid as hell....

We have cams down by the deer stand, but someone decided the needed more than I do. They left the feeder and deer stand though.

I have dogs that bark at everything. I just don't like the idea of people showing up. We can't fence and gate because of the woods and general layout.
