I'm out of pickeled okra as we had a bad season here too. Luckily I got enough to save the seeds, but not enough to can. I'm pretty good with most else for now at least. I got so desperate for the stuff that I resorted to pickeling green beans. There ok but not the same...
I'll ship you okra, . . . we had a crap load last year. You send me your maters :)

I was pretty good with tomatoes, still have at least 50 pints or so. Boy what I'd give for a good fresh ripe one right now though! I've given up buying the ones from Walmart. Might as well eat cardboard... I sure wish we lived a little closer!

Have you done well with potatoes yet? They have become my new staple. So far the best yield from anything I've planted. Wgregmiller got me excited about trying peanuts this season for the first time too. I can't wait to start up again for the season.

Lol. I'm curious to see how they work out for ya. I swear I had peanuts for like 5 years on one seasons worth....

I just planted my potatoes yesterday. . . we get a good amount normally. Last year not soo much though so was using my canned goods and buying them when on sale.

Aren't you still in a frost zone?

I don't think it's computer lag - maybe website lag. Or, you two have twitchy fingers....
I'm playing on a really old iPad here, and this thing is slow and gets confused easily! The iPad, not me.....
In respect to Apple though, this thing is about five years old at least and is still working with the original battery. Of course it dosent do near what my phone will with the upgrades. I guess I'll replace this this year as I like it for the portability way more than the computer in the office.

Around here, the saying is have your potatoes in before Feb 14th. When planting, I notice some that I planted for the fall had already started to sprout and come through the ground. . . last year I had nothing so maybe this is a good growing sign. We'll have to wait and see. We don't get too many frost days, but if I know we will, I will cover them with a tarp for protection during the night hours and then uncover. Kiddo and I both kept jalapenos going until January this year when we finally got the freezing temps that stayed around for a few days.

I won't be planting my Potatoes til March. This year I'm only growing a row or two of earlies. I'm trying Sharpes Express and Red Duke of York.

I'll probably plant next month too. I want to get two crops of potatoes again. I have enough seed potatoes from last falls spuds that I don't need to buy more. I'm still working on the whole sustainability thing. It's harder than most realize. I have a radish plant I'm trying to get to make seeds, but haven't had luck with it yet. I don't know what variety I have but one red and one white.

I'm going to TRY ( I have anything but green fingers) Spuds, Onions, Toms, and stuff like garlic, spinach, and other idiot level greens this year.

Garlic you've missed the boat on for this season. Get your seed Potatoes now as they need a few weeks to 'chit' ie. start growing shoots. I've got mine in a seed tray in the cupboard. If you're just wanting to grow a few in tubs, go to Home Bargains, they have a pack of 8 seed potatoes for 89p atm. that is more than enough for you to start in a big pot. Lidl have their seeds in now, and they start 29p per packet. I have used their seeds and they are good quality. I'll take pics later and post.

My basil will reseed in the garden but I have yet to see it sprouting. So far it has been dill, cilantro and parsley. I started my tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant and some have started their second leaves. . . patiently waiting. . . I am not a very patient person. . . . but waiting. . . even though we have been in the 70s for weeks now. . . and yet still waiting. . . :(
