So I use to see this in the old Western moves a knife that was wearin under the shirt collar from a necklace and I was wondering this is a way that could work in real life or would it be just something you see in the movies

Any place that's concealable may work, how fast one can react is another story depending how confident and the amount of practice without needing stitches or how many stitches one is willing to get. Hollywood is full of everything wrong making the theatrics look simplified, emulating hollywood is about as dangerous as it gets just as over confidence. Also note, the feeling of confidence and the amount of practice one endures is all done in a non-threatening environment, wait till the adrenaline starts to flow in an hostile environment ;)

I was just wondering it was in a lot of the westerns when I was younger I always thought that it might be a way that would not matter if you were Wearing a T-shirt or a button down shirt I was thinking maybe you more experienced guys could give me a idea if it was do able

I personally don't like knives. Way too close to the bad guy. Now, if someone made a gun that shoots knives.......

im thinking a good and flat throwing knife,in a sheath for it..in which the sheath is attached to a harness of some kind.kinda like a harness for a under the arm gun holster.in which the knife would be to one side of the neck,or the other..

I know this is a old thread but i bet He was talking about , was it Eldarado or Rio Lobo . The 2 John Wayne movies . A young Actor then that was also a popular singer of the time was on a campain of revenge to settle the score with a bunch of ruffians that killed His mentor . He would use a switch blade from a sheath behind His neck flip it open and throw it while His opponent would go for thier six gun . Good movie .

There is (or was) such a knife.

It was developed by Soviet special forces (SPETSNAZ), and incorporated a detachable blade with a powerful spring in the grip.

This knife could be used like any other knife, but when you thumbed a concealed catch...the blade would shoot out and accurately (and silently) penetrate a target up to 25 feet away.

The government made them illegal, but there are loopholes...and they can still be found on the internet.

If you're interested, look up SPETSNAZ ballistic knife in a google search.
