A Millbank bag and either a Sawyer mini or chemical treatment would be my first choice, providing a compact, passive, effective method without the need for electricity. Interesting idea though.

When you use it for doing dishes and showering, theres not enough time for "drip drip drip". We use about 30 gallons every 2 or 3 days and i like to just get it over with. For a mobile or temporary setup, id definitely agree with you :)

And me personally, i dont mind a bit of discoloration in my water. Im ok with boil-drink. But... i have a girlfriend from the city and she isnt a fan of that. My efforts were to comfort her. And its hard denying how nice the result looks!
