Was wondering if anyone has any experience with these It supposed to be a new take on the bolo knife and mostly designed to be a chopper but I was wondering how it would do with the cut and stabe as a fighter I have a friend that got to in a trade and offered to save me one

The only problem I've had with the knife is with heavy use I get bad hotspots on my hands. I gave it to a friend later because of that. Outside of that it's a fine knife and heavy chopper for sure.

Ok do you think that if the handle was wrapped with something it could help did you ever try to see how it did as a staber or would you say it just made as a chopper

It'll stab, just not well. The blade is soooo thick you'll get some fair resistance. No I didn't change the handle. The way it's made wrapping the handle is difficult because of the rubber gummy texture of the handle.. I heard they changed it to a krayton handle but i just wasn't a fan of the handle design. It' worked in my buddies hand better so I let him keep it..

My opinion is it has a weird feel and although would be good for all cutting motions its best for chopping. I have cut some blanks out for some guys on my cnc plasma machine they are easy to maintain and rugged.

"The blade is for your enemy, the handle is for you"

I've had knives that many people loved but I myself could not get past the handle. I don't own the SP53 but I do own the Marine Bolo with the same handle; have not used it in the field but I do not like the flat area on top of the handle, and I could certainly see where the grooves could cause hot spots. For me, a knife must be usable with bare hands, if I have to wear gloves (which means keeping gloves around) then it is a deal breaker.
