We have had 6 gallon pails for emergency ess. for 9 years. Bad thing is they have sat on concrete the hole time. When i go to open them what should I look for smell, color, or would it just be bad??

When opening any stored food always look and smell it first. Even if the taste is off, if in doubt, throw it out. Unless it’s all you have with no option to get more.....

Check packaging first, passes test open when time to eat. Before you eat check smell, then look for anything not right. Then taste a small bit. No foul smell, no sour taste? Your good to go.
