My Mother: Survived NAZI Germany. A story for another time but one tough woman
My Father: Intelligence work with US government circa early 1950s. He met my mother in Germany

Summer of 1959: Living in France with my parents but Dad was gone for several months. Our location was discovered by malcontents...then... I remember the loud popping sounds as my mother took me away to a safe room. We were rescued by US military police chartered with watching our house.

1968. While living in Panama City, Panama: General Torrijos engages in a military coup and takes over the government. The news reports stated afterwards that it was a peaceful coup but... While I was playing baseball in an open field, we were attacked from the top of a hotel by military personnel shooting down out us. We took 'cover' out of instinct and survived long enough to make it back to our apartment complex. We were still waiting for on base housing at the time, hence living in country. I was 13 at the time.

1970: Panama City, Panama - Students were rioting (don't remember why) and my mother (escapee from the NAZIs) was caught while trying to drive us into the canal zone to safety. Bricks were flying and she did a reverse move and spun our Rambler Station Wagon around like a pro and we fled.

1973 to 1978: Vietnam era. It ended the summer of 1975 but I did not ETS out until '78. 'Nuff said

Post 1978: I longed for a normal life and found it here in the USA.

Suffice it to say, between my own experiences and stories told to me and my siblings by Mom, it is clear that some of her experiences in Germany are repeating themselves in our country, hence my desire to align myself with good people.

I very much look forward to learning from everyone here and maybe sharing a few more sobering experiences which are at the core of who I am today.

With humility and respect.

Hard knocks make for tough people. Warm welcome from the Arizona valley folks. :USA:

@ DrPrepper,
RE: what similar things do we see today per my mother's comments.

1. A strong push towards socialism, (i.e., nationalized education;socialized medicine;stricter gun control;more control over the food supply).
> To control a society, it needs to start with our children. Impressionable minds are much easier to mold. Hitler's brown shirts and other promises to feed the Germanic people's thirst for education

> The art of the con is to make people feel they are getting something free while being safe and economically secure. Enter the world of socialized medicine. During my mother's time in Germany, she recalls the promise of free medicine. Then, nefarious individuals, over time, used it for experiments which were not known to the citizens at the time. Additionally, it was used as a mechanism to gain even more control through regulations whereby the punishment would be withholding medical care. The sheep(people) just went along because they could not or WOULD not believe an ulterior motive was in play.

> Control of firearms was under the guise of making people safer. Once the theme was in place, lists were taken of ownership followed by seemingly legal laws passed in "enhance" the safety of the patrons. I've heard stories from my mother where plain clothed conscripts of the government would then go house to house and demand firearms be placed in an armory. Once there, they were typically not returned. For those who would refuse, various mechanisms of punishment were instituted to force compliance, (i.e., food rations would be taken away).

> Enhanced control over food and its distribution: Ludicrous 'laws' were enacted to gradually control and profit from food production. Mom tells many stories about minor family infractions due to the high number of regulations where the government would reduce their food rations.

The journey for me started years ago when I was visiting my parents, circa 2010 to 2012'ish'. We were watching Andy Stern and later the purple shirts of SEIU government employees. [My recollection is foggy on some of the other details] ... While Mom was watching the news she became distant and apparently very deep in thought, almost despondent. After a few minutes I asked her if she was okay. This part I will NEVER forget. She turned to Dad and I and said "I've seen this before". Even though she would never talk about her life as a young girl in Germany other than family and friends, I persisted over the last 6 years and drilled into the specifics of what she had experienced. The parallels are chilling.

Up until now, I've kept most of my thoughts private and only shared bits and pieces with family or very close friends.

So, recently I was compelled to take a huge risk and reach out to others in the hope they are of like mind. Clearly, the many other stories Mom told about day to day survival may resonate with those in this forum.

In parting, we have a reprieve with today's White House administration but it is my 'opinion' it is exactly that, a reprieve. Currently, socialistic ideology of various types are still growing and at a faster rate than those of us who strive for a strong moral footing steeped in our religious beliefs, ergo they will actively vote us out of existence and then the game begins.

This is way more than I intended to write but thanks for asking :)

:)

Welcome from a top secret location only 149 people know about. Its very important that we vote in more people that will be aligned with our President. This is a battle if not won, the USA is no more.

Welcome from a another Texan. . . Jim normally always beats me ;).
Your mom has seen and gone thru a lot in her many years. Listen to her, which you have obviously been doing. It's been a scary few years I will admit and more people were paying attention. Right now with our current administration we seem to be going in the right direction, but so many do not realize that the ball has already begun rolling with the mind set of our younger generations. They have been taught and indoctrinated by our public school systems when their minds were so impressionable. It's worrisome that that is a generation that will be in office probably before I die. So many figure we are not at a risk any more and just stop preparing to live life . . I say this is just more opportunity to build on what you already have. It can all change in a blink of an eye.
Thank you for sharing and look forward to seeing more.

Welcome from B.C. Canada
I have some very close friends who immigrated from Canada and OH MY have they given me some serious insight into what most middle of the country Canadians think about many aspects of our globalist world. Both of them are medical professionals and they can spend hours telling me why they appose socialized medicine or other aspects of 'socialism'. Of course, they were preaching to the choir. LOL

So, with a handle like Kootenay, are you close to that famous deep lake? I've been there several times and just love the topography.

:)

My wife has her nursing degree and she has said numerous times the people that work for their medical henifits appreciate every bit of care they get. Once there is someone getting free health care the care will never be good enough for them. They will always expect more free stuff given to them at the expense of the working man.
Which famous deep lake are you referring to?

It is pretty easy to see what is happening to those who have their eyes open. Thank you for the reminder.
