even know what it is or how it spreads.

The world is so overpopulated and interaction with modern travel is so fast, it is only a matter of time before nature exacts a correction. Since the world began, any species that got too numerous would have some natural correction. Just be thankful were not lemmings :).

Seriously though, scary stuff. Hasn't that area had enough?

looks like once you "survive" one,mother nature throws you a curveball...

it sounds very much like heavy metal poisoning, such as arsenic or mercury poisoning.
I just read they think it was from concentrated weed killer. Reminds me of when I was in school to be an EMT they told us about a case where some dumbass worked for dow chemical. He got a concentrate insecticide and smuggled it home to spread on his lawn. When he put in in a spreader he fell over dead. Assuming he had a heart attack, the first responders fell over dead too. Luckily the second crew was more wary and wore suits when they went up. The powder he was spreading was supposed to be diluted with thousands of gallons of liquid and bottled. They had to strip 2 feet of dirt from the lot and hazmat it away somewhere. I liked what they taught us to do when, not if, a radioactive accident happens. They recommended a folding chair, a six pack of beer, and a good pair of binoculars.

Just watched a show on the Black Death in London . Most know that it was carried and spread by rats and couldnt understand how it spread so far so fast .Because some Countrys still have cases to pop up from time to time and it dosent spread like that . But reserching a later out break that happend around 100 years ago scientist think the Bubonic plauge turned into the pnubonic plauge and was then transfered from person to person in the air .

What interested me on the plague is the thought of the people not knowing why they were dying. They had no clue what a bacteria was. I've read some articles that said almost 50% of people in cities died from it. Even if record keeping was not that good, the numbers were high. I can only imagine how scary it was for people.

what worries is that there seems to come some new disease every week in Africa and now they are trying to come over to Europe by boats,when will some new/old shit hit our ground here with those flee/disease infested illegals??

Makes you wonder if they just engineer something and test it there.

helluwa way to test stuff...but knowing how dark human mind can be it wouldn't surprise me...

Just conjecture of course. Must be some kind of condition there that causes these things to emerge. Pure chance just doesn't seem to cut it. Has to be some contributing factor here.

And this is one NASTY bug.....

Weirder still, the story broke 3 DAYS AGO, and yet no updates. Surely they'd have some test results back by now? Suspicion was it was from some kind of local drink. I suppose that's at least good if true, so not contagious.

But still, 3 days without anything more? Why?

they keep it in the dark as long as possible???
if it's not "the local drink" then we could be in some serious trouble,but too much from those parts of Africa,it can't be just coincidence...yeah,I sound like a doomsday prepper...but I am :rolleyes:

Have you noticed that even those they are not mentioning it on TV but if you watch the TV footage you see every migrant being tested for Ebola as soon as they step ashore in Italy

Still no updates. So far, the speculation is either a local brew or pesticide poisoning.
The described symptoms though (headache, blurry vision or blindness, etc.) don't really sound like alcohol poisoning.

Alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms include:

  • Confusion
  • Vomiting
  • Seizures
  • Slow breathing (less than eight breaths a minute)
  • Irregular breathing (a gap of more than 10 seconds between breaths)
  • Blue-tinged skin or pale skin
  • Low body temperature (hypothermia)
  • Passing out (unconsciousness) and can't be awakened

They sound EXACTLY like pesticide poisoning though.

Signs and symptoms associated with mild exposures to organophosphate and carbamate insecticides include:

  • headache, fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite with nausea, stomach cramps and diarrhea;
  • blurred vision associated with excessive tearing;
  • contracted pupils of the eye;
  • excessive sweating and salivation;
  • slowed heartbeat, often fewer than 50 per minute;
  • rippling of surface muscles just under the skin.

yup,it's a matter of time before it is here,if it comes to Italy we're screwed,they can do a great pasta but that's it ;)
