London’s Air Ambulance is more likely to be sent to a stabbing or shooting than a traffic collision, it was revealed today.

Its medics treated 560 victims of violent crime last year — the first time in its almost 30-year history that this category exceeded the number of pedestrians, cyclists, drivers or passengers hurt in crashes, which totalled 533.

The figures are the latest dramatic indication of the knife crime epidemic sweeping the capital. There were 80 fatal stabbings last year.

I know what you meant. It's just obvious that the politicians never bothered to read the overwhelming evidence that gun bans don't work. But of course we all know that their intent of banning guns doesn't have anything to do with keeping them away from criminals.

Good one :0 Naa the one thing the Royals have that we as a family have is private medical care. We only use the NHS for Emergency trauma treatment, anything else we go private either direct or BUPA or if we want to speak with a GP immediately we do it online through PUSH DOCTOR. We have just about given up on the NHS even though many of our family gave their lives to it, we simply no longer trust it. The NHS does still have world class emergency trauma care, but after that its pretty dreadful, though many will disagree.
FYI we pay up to 40% Income Tax plus 14% National Insurance but get third world medical care for our money.

SE......On the subject of health care, it's really sad about the child Alfie. I can't imagine watching my child struggle to breathe and being denied oxygen.

Not overly familiar with the story, but yes I agree with you, but I would also point out the medical he has received for over 2 years runs to over a million pounds, even his parents say he is never going to contribute to society. I'm just glad I'm not in their position parents or doctors.

We have a notorious case up here of two Asians who were cousins in an arranged marriage, they produced a child so disabled he needs 24/7 round the clock care from two nurses, he is fed by tube, unresponsive to stimuli, cannot move by himself, basically vegative state. he is now 17 and has been cared for on the NHS his entire life at a cost of many millions of pounds. His parents abandoned him. Those millions of pounds could have been used else in the health service.

none of these cases would have happened if it had been a wild animal, the mother would have simply rolled over on it and put it out of its misery, but because its a human child we have to keep it alive at all costs, no matter its quality of life or short life span, if it had been a dog we would have been up in court for allowing it to suffer. aint logic grand??

When my daughter was 4, I remember explaining that one of the new born kittens would probably not be alive the next morning and the mom would eat it. Sure enough, there was a lower torso the next morning.

I, being the mother of a special needs child see things more with my heart. My son has zero health problems and we are responsible for his care. But, if he were in a vegetative state, I would feel differently. Most of those children would not be alive without modern medicine.

When my daughter was 4, I remember explaining that one of the new born kittens would probably not be alive the next morning and the mom would eat it. Sure enough, there was a lower torso the next morning.

I, being the mother of a special needs child see things more with my heart. My son has zero health problems and we are responsible for his care. But, if he were in a vegetative state, I would feel differently. Most of those children would not be alive without modern medicine.

I feel your concerns my brother is severely autistic he is in his fifties now and going deaf, losing his sight and showing signs of mental degradation. My mum looked after him for over 50 plus years and we go NOTHING from the NHS / Welfare state we always had to manage on our own. He often eats so fast and without chewing he chokes, and its a fight every time to clear the blockage . Try doing that three or four times a month for over 50 years. He now lives on his own, he wont even consider moving into sheltered accommodation.
