As noted on other threads, I have been reducing the weight of my emergency lighting in my bug out bags and EDC by going from 2-AA to 1-AA and 2-AAA to 1-AAA though I still keep around the AA lights, more and more the AA lights are going in the vehicles replacing the D cell lights.

One of the primary reasons of switching the lights over to AAA is weight and the reduced time it takes to recharge the batteries using the portable solar chargers and vehicle 12v chargers when the alkaline batteries are depleted. I do have other lights that use the more exotic rechargable batteries such as the 14500 and 18650 but it takes an god awful long time solar charging them. In an emergency, time is everything, for that reason I gave up performance for recharging speed, packability, portability and weight.

Small example below, the list below is in order of the picture. For sizing comparison, the LED Lenser P6 is 6.5 inches long the Fenix E01 is 2.75 inches long

Very nice. I went way overboard on the flashlight game. It seems like everytime I buy something new it becomes obsolete a few months later...at least according to this guy.

I've been watching his reviews for a few years now. They're generally pretty well done and informative. I think I'm good on flashlights for a while though.
 
I have lights with rechargable batteries, but I also use a lot of hand-crank lights, and some are pretty good.

There is even a hand-crank lantern that came in handy during my experience with Irma (that nasty b---h that destroyed my favorite areas in the Keys).

I have a few hand crank lights from Energizer, they are worth having!
