Ahhhhh, I see, they haven't explained this on Forged in Fire!:)

The softer metal of the axe head absorbs the vibration plus too hard an eye on the axe head could split the thin wall of the eye when striking a knot or hard wood. I’m not sure historically such as the battle axe on the forging process.

Dang I'm getting right smart here. The eye, of course. I'm gonna have to rest a spell, too many AHA moments.
 
On the axe head you have the heel, beard, bit, toe, cheek, eye, poll and shoulder describing certain parts of the axe lol
My knowledge is that pretty much the sharp end goes away from the body, and then there's the handle.
