Live in south florida on east coast...in the middle of the cone.

If anyone needs any validation for their prepper beliefs...I didn't have to go shopping and fight tooth and nail to get stuff.

Already had water, canned food, batteries, propane, even a portable solar powered charger.

There are already stories about fights, even stabbings over things like water and propane.

I skipped all that.

What are your thoughts?

I really can't believe that 98% of Americans don't have enough supplies for three days. Sorry to hear you're right in the middle of it. I rode out several hurricanes down there, but never a 5. I did just read that it may track more east ward, hopefully that will lessen its impact. Hope you have high ground to shelter in.

Glad that you have preps since it sounds like you are staying. Before it hits also fill your bathtubs with water along with washing machine. You may need to lay something over the bathtub drain so it doesn't leak out. The washing machine water would not be for drinking unless purified. They hold to much bacteria in the machines. Have more water storm d than you think you will need. . . I would think a minimum of two weeks of food on hand, but longer is better. You never know how long roads will be cut off . keep everything charged so you can get outside news. FB may become your best friend if you have an account. Even when internet goes out I could still get on FB. I hope you have a generator?

Things that always go from stores first. . . water, milk, bread, eggs, lunch meat. Believe it or not, people go crazy in the bread isle. Its like they think that is the only food option they have and bread means not starving. Learn to make your own. Even if you don't have yeast you can make it with beer. . .

Life is so much easier being a prepper for sure.
Good luck and stay safe!!

The British BBC normally dont get wound up but a news anchor asked the weatherman what he thought about Irma and the Met Office guy said quite simply " If you live in Florida be some place else NOW."
