Prep, watch, situation awareness, new faces near your homes, unknown cars parked nearby, someone following you for more than 3 times turning the same corners, funny phone calls with no answer, your children saying someone talked to them, drive a different route to and from work/school/shopping, take extra precaution where your park your car, look into the exhaust pipe (favorite fast bomb placement site), look out the window before leaving the house, double lock all windows/doors, re-check weapons and ammo, place extra protection in the strangest places (easy to reach), re-check your fast escape routes and baggage, top off the fuel tanks. It was when the US and UK put its support for the unpopular Shah ahead of the wishes of the people that caused the problems.

you mean the legit government of a sovereign nation >>> the US should have been pulling a CIA overthrow?

make up your mind what kind of US you want >>> a CITIZEN run authority or a corrupted backstabbing Obammy regime ...

The Shah was unpopular with the clerics alright.
Some of the "unpopular" things he did:
He instituted economic and social reforms (like emancipating women for instance, which the clerics hated)
He secularized the government (extremely unpopular with the clerics)
He modernized Iran which led to unprecedented economic growth. Personal income grew 423 fold under his regime. This undercut the power of the bazaaris, the traditional class of wealthy merchants. He was very "unpopular" with them.
He spent billions on industry, education, health, and armed forces. (undercutting the power of the clerics)
He normalized relations with Israel. (extremely "unpopular" with the clerics)
He banned the Communist Party (very "unpopular" with the communists)

By Western standards, he was a corrupt autocrat. By Middle Eastern standards he was a frickin' saint.

Looks like a rift is brewing between Syria and Russia, Syria appears to be aligning more and more with Iran and support for Russia in Syria growing smaller by the day. Russia was in Syria to keep control of Syria from falling into the control of the US or Iran or Turkey, if Assad bridge the axes with Iran, Russia is out of their knowing more than likely Assad is a dead man once they leave. This is becoming interesting.
