Short version. 2 girls, 6th & 7th grade, satan worshipers, were arrested & charged with conspiracy to commit murder, they planned to kill 15 classmates today and drink their blood.

Has our country gone insane? Parents "had no idea the girls were satan worshippers"? Huh?

Much of it is from the internet and lack of parenting.

When I would see crazy stuff like this, my daughter and I would talk about it. That was what was good about having such a long commute to school each day. I had her trapped in the car so I could at least make her listen. No ear buds were allowed. And texting wasn't allowed that early because her classmates lived closer and were still getting ready.

When parents abdicate their parental responsibilities to the world of electronics, these are some of the results. Glad they were caught before they could attempt this attack and certainly hope they get the mental help they need. I also hope the parents loose the right and privilege to parent these children.

We did without many of the perks that a family with 2 working parents have, but I don't regret one minute.

I was there for every dog and pony show and was able to be the mom that could be relied on to transport the kids from after school sports, etc when others weren't available.

Life is full of tough decision.

My mom, on then other hand, had No choice but to work when we were small. She was the lone support of 4 children.

I just wonder what has changed since I was younger?

There were single parent families all over the place when I was a kid...there was satanic heavy metal (Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, and Black Sabbath were popular when I was in high school), we had no end of drugs (although flakka, spice, and bath salts didn't exist back then...but we had PCP and methamphetamine, which I would argue--as a paramedic--are just as bad), and The Satanic Bible was freely available in both the school library and the local public library.

So...what's different today? I don't believe that I'm looking back with rose-colored glasses.

I believe it has to do with the fact that when I was young, teachers could reprimand children who misbehaved. Now they get sued and lose their jobs. When visiting others friends homes, we were taught that the parents were in charge and to treat them with respect. Now children are not taught to respect others. Please and thank you are rarely heard.

No offense intended, but it still seems like a stretch to go from "please and thank you" to sacrificing your schoolmates to the dark gods and drinking their blood.

I'm totally at a loss.

Nothing new . Look at crimes throughout history and alot of this kind of stuff has actually been carried out . Its been 35 years since I was in school and I remember reports like this would come up from time to time . You can easily find crimes like this carried out 50 plus years ago .

I'm just glad that my kids are grown up and raising their own. I think these kids and their parents need a good ### beating.
