I'm not happy with the molle panel I made for the pack. Went for a hike the other day, and the wife had to hang on to me when we went down some steep trails... She naturally hung onto the most convenient hand hold, in this case, the Silky Saw where it sticks up out of the molle panel.

It moved around a lot, and shifted the molle panel on the pack. So I need to make the whole kit and kabootle more integrated and solid with the pack.

Once I get the wife and kids out of here (clean snow off cars, warm up cars, help pack, what a guy!) I can get to work. I'm going to go scrounging for some stiffeners for the molle panel, then rebuild the whole affair.

So... Got sewing, and had some consistent issues with breaking thread, this time on a different spool. Disassembled machine, cleaned and retimed. Timing was off by about 2mm, on the short side. I think it just built up an issue over time slamming through webbing and multiple layers of cordura. Anyway, runs like a watch now.

Made a pocket for the Silky Saw, and got everything cut and the stiffener sewn into the back panel.

Just used some posterboard for the stiffener insert. It shouldn't take much abuse in there, and it will be inside a few layers of 1000 denier Cordura, so I'm not too worried. Anyway, it's all I got right now.

Looks like a good cold Sunday project. It is a soggy and dreary weekend here, and I just didn’t have it in me to work outside. I did a little woodworking today, and it was bad enough just going from the pole barn to the house a few times.
I just made a wine spritzer and gave the kids my credit card to bring home some food, so I’m done accomplishing else today. Cool gear anyways!

Alright, all finished. Really digging having the machine re-timed.

The outside edge is double stitched all the way around, except for the opening into the space between the panels. Should be pretty much indestructible. The grey portion on the tan panel is just because I get bored of solid color blocks. There isn't another pocket behind it or anything.

This one is going to go on my craigslist sewing ad. I actually got some business off it today! The wife said it would never happen lol. Gotta have a website... I'm not ready to pay for a website yet.

jontte, that's definitely on my list. I got to get "hands on" with a Crye Precision plate carrier a while back, and it was super nice. I'm waiting to get some swimmer cut plates, and a few yards of a certain coated fabric, it has a pebbled texture, but it is fairly slick feeling. Once I have that stuff, I plan on making a very minimalist carrier. It's in the works.

The pack is done! I ain't doin nothin' else to it this week!
