Every time Trump is on tv he always acts like he doesn’t want to override states. He says he wants each state to figure it out for themselves. Why do you think that would quickly change?

Can’t see the President overriding states...personal opinion only based upon his actions to date.

I am not convinced there will be lots of people leaving the cities other than the wealthy. Normally it works the other way and the poor and starving flee the countryside to the cities. Even in places with massive wars the people didn't flee to the countryside they just migrated to slums in cities. It always puzzled me why the hungry homeless man goes in the city when he could have better picking out in the sticks.

It seems those who flee to the cities in very troubled times are looking for help from government. Whereas those who stay or flee to the country are looking for space to help themselves!

Most people from the cities would starve after fleeing to the countryside. The vast majority wouldn’t know where to start with catching and cleaning a chicken or rabbit and cooking it over a fire they had to make themselves.

I don't think they will plan on growing their own food. Or butchering themselves either. They will be there to take prepared food off peoples tables.

Smart, smart lady Robin! You must have more hens than I do. Have finally found the kind I want and ordered them. Couldn’t get them locally, but I’m really picky on the breeds I raise. Doubling the size of my flock.
I have 13 hens. One is on the nest though. I usually get 9 or so eggs per day. Some of mine are pretty old but I can't cull the flock. It would make my son sad.

I had a brilliant thought about 3 a.m. but could remember it this morning.

I think it has to do with all of the classes people are supposed to be doing from home. Most of them are requiring the downloading of ZOOM.

I have read that ZOOM is not very secure and that they share all of your info with Facebook even if you don't have a Facebook account. I am not going to download and am using my standard excuse that we have slow Internet and can't stream.

I was able to use Zoom to join the meeting for Bible study without signing up. I just installed the app and said "No" when it asked me to sign up.
First thing I did was check the app permissions.
No access to my contacts, calendar, location, phone, or storage.
Just camera and microphone.

They have no information about me to share!

Yeah be careful with zoom and sign up with a secure email on a little-used device if worried. But that's really all the apps. Don't share anything about yourself that you don't want them to know.

I've never kept chickens, but I've been tempted by ducks.

Ducks seem healthier than chickens, and more adaptable. I've eaten duck eggs before, and I like them better than chicken eggs.

Has anyone here kept ducks for eggs? What does this entail?

Muscovy ducks are all over the place in Florida. In restaurants, they call Muscovy duck 'Barbary duck', and is delicious if it's cooked right by a skilled chef.

I have raised chickens and have been tempted to get ducks as well. I visited a friend who had them and they actually seem a bit messier believe it or not. The need a water source not just to drink but to dunk their heads in as well. At least this is what I have heard over and over. They do produce just as many if not more eggs but the seem to need more maintenance.

My experience with ducks was not good. Chickens are much better in my humble opinion. Ducks have got to be the messiest creatures around! Just stink and filth. I keep my chicken house and run clean and without much smell at all. Maybe my setup wasn’t right for ducks?

Was never one to use FB much, but did have an account. Right up until I found this...

I set up a large cage in the yard that had one end in the water where the two baby ducklings I had could swim and had dry land to walk on too. They were really enjoyable to watch play and seemed to be a lot smarter than the chickens. The two were just about large enough to start laying eggs when a neighbors beagle got through the fencing of the property and then into the cage. He chewed of their heads and left the rest. Let’s just say that dog would never hurt anyone’s livestock again... I was so angry when I caught him. Then a few days later I got a flyer in the mailbox. An old woman in the neighborhood had a reward for her lost dog. I had to tell her it was me that her lost dog wasn’t coming home from, and why I did it. A couple days later she came up to me and apologized to me for the ducks. You could see how much she loved that dog though. I felt so bad that I never replaced the birds and would have to think really hard about hurting any other animals ever again. I know I was in the right with protecting my animals an all but it was just a really wrong thing to do for that old woman...

I can’t say I am surprised by this. It does seem pretty outrageous for them to even ask for the information but not surprising in the least. Google and Facebook make most of their profits from selling adds, so companies would pay more to know their adds were targeted to only ones that have an interest in a product group and can afford to buy.

One of our neighbors had rabbits. She loved them like we do our dogs and cats. One day, while she was on a weeks vacation, another neighbors dog showed up with this particular black and white rabbit in its mouth, dead and dirty. Well, knowing how much the rabbit was loved and knowing the owner was on vacation, she washed the rabbit, dried it off and brushed its fur pretty and put it back into the cage in the vacationing ladys garden.....
A few days later, she heard screams coming from the neighbors garden, remembered the rabbit, and went to see what was wrong, (knowing she needed to feel sorry for the loss of the rabbit, thinking the lady would believe it had died of old age or something...) Got to the garden of the neighbor and asked quite innocently, "what ever is wrong"
The lady showed her the dead rabbit, crying and sobbing. The guilty feelings of the neighbor got the best of her and she really started to cry with her friend. After a few minutes, she quietly asked, "what do you think happened?"
The answer knocked her out of her shoes: "It died of old age, before I went on vacation, I even buried it in the back field...NOW IT IS BACK IN THE CAGE!!!"
The dog had dug up the dead rabbit....GP
