yes and they stole all our pagan holy sites and built churches on them.

Yes, and then the Vikings came and slaughtered all the monks they could find.

You people across the pond are just a violent bunch. ;)

But there is no parallel in the U.S.

Regarding the Indians. And before you jump on me for not calling them by the PC name "Native Americans"...I call them "Indians" because I grew up in Mississippi, and the native tribe, the Choctaws, call themselves the "Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians." (click on the link and see for yourself) So who am I to argue with them?

The vast majority of the atrocities against the Indians were following the Civil War. There is a direct connection...

By and large, the Indians were not persecuted for their religion. In fact, many missionaries were amazed at their religious beliefs and ceremonies, and considered them to be a "remnant of the lost ten tribes of Israel."
See for yourself: H.B. Cushman, History of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Natches Indians

Christian Missionaries were often on the side of the Indians during treaty negotiations, telling them NOT to trust the Federal Government. Many tribes requested Missionaries to come and teach English to their children. I know this flies in the face of the revisionist history people are taught in public school, but it's true.

And BTW, please don't bring up any of the crazy stuff the nutters in Massachusetts did. That's Massachusetts and doesn't in any way reflect on the rest of the country.

The U.S. Government took our food away from us once before, so it is not even hypothetical....maybe the circumstances were different, but it happened before, so it could happen again.

Diffidently ain't hypothetical, it was done once before Title 50 become law and now it's law; Title 50 Title I Sec. 2072 (hoarding) and Executive Order 10998 -- Food resources, farms, fertilizer, and facilities

that's called the "scorched earth" policy, burn all the food and crops and deny them to your enemy.

Well it was a sound military tactic.
Still is.
We did the same in Viet Nam.
Burn the rice and deny the V.C. food.
Burn the villages, move the people and deny resources to the enemy.
During WWII, after the 8th Air Force destroyed the German Air Force
fighter pilots were sent out to machine gun farm equipment, farm animals,
and FARMERS, to deny the enemy resources.
Bombers were went to bomb farms, and machine gun farm animals
and farmers.
What we won't read in our history books.

The victor writes the history.

All's fair in love and war.

Fight fair???????????? bawwww-hawwwwwwwwwww

I thought that way until I got my azz kicked royally.
Shot at, attacked with knives, broken beer bottles, even had a baby thrown at me.

Then I treated all people as good as they let me.

Wanna fight? Be prepared to get tear gassed then your azz kicked.

Think about something. If some azz will attack a uniformed cop armed
with a handgun, a baton, Mace, handcuffs, what would that azz do to
you!?

Well said and very true. Thank you, Doc H.

I surely hope you're right about that.

And that ^ is just one of the reasons why.

Yes. ^^^
The American Civil War was fought by two forces pretty much evenly matched
in the area of weapons.

Muskets, cap 'n ball revolvers, swords, bayonets, artillery.

It was the northern industry the South could not match.
The North had men to spare the South did not.

General Lee was painfully aware of that.
This was the primary reason for the Battle at Gettysburg .
That battle happened quite my accident, not plan.

Lee wanted to surround and take Washington D.C. and force a surrender
and concessions favorable to the new Confederate States.
Fate worked against Lee and the charge by the Southern Armies
against a fortified Northern position on the high ground led to
the destruction of so much of Lee's Army.

Nearly one-third of the total forces engaged at Gettysburg became casualties. George Gordon Meade’s Army of the Potomac lost 28 percent of the men involved; Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia suffered over 37 percent.

Of these casualties, 7,058 were fatalities (3,155 Union, 3,903 Confederate). Another 33,264 had been wounded (14,529 Union, 18,735 Confederate) and 10,790 were missing (5,365 Union, 5,425 Confederate).

The North could afford those numbers.
The South could not.

If anyone gets a chance to visit the Gettysburg battle ground please
do so.

I've been there 3 X and still haven't seen it all.

Hard to see it all when ones eyes are clouded with tears.

Another reason an armed rebellion against the U.S. Gov't won't work is
the disparity of force.

I don't have tanks, missiles, aircraft, and so on.
I only have 5 A.R.'s and several other weapons.

I'm part black foot and I'm gonna get cha.:p

Also a bit of oriental and lots of redneck.:D

I'm an American mutt.
Just like most of us.
I'm part Choctaw, half Redneck and married to an oriental. :p

Gettysburg was a cluster f*k. Among other problems, the damned Confederate artillery aimed too high, and many of the fuses were defective. Smoke obscured the Union artillery batteries that the Confederate artillery was trying to take out. "Picket's Charge", which was supposed to happen at daybreak, didn't happen until the middle of the day because Longstreet didn't bother to tell Pickett about it until it was too late to get his troops prepared for a dawn attack, and the only effect of the artillery bombardment was to telegraph to the Union Troops where they would be attacked, giving them plenty of time to bring up reinforcements. Many people believe Longstreet deliberately undermined Lee's plans.

A.P. Hill, who was supposed to select the troops for Picket's Charge, fell ill and wasn't able to carry out the task. As a result, some of the troops chosen were worn out already from previous fighting, and were not up to the task, while some of Hill's own troops who were fresh, did not take part.

The 11th Mississippi, Company A, (known as the "University Grays" because they were comprised of nearly the entire student body of the University of Mississippi), were in the vanguard of Pickett's Charge, and penetrated the deepest into Union lines on Cemetery Ridge (the so called "High Water Mark of The Confederacy") but found themselves alone behind enemy lines and suffered 100% casualties.

Italian women are dominant critters.

It was hard to break her into my way of thinking.

Still a work in progress.

I just can't leave her. She's legally blind, owns a Jag she can't drive,
has a 28 foot cuddy cabin in the driveway, owns a home on the water
in Florida, has a 3 acre lake behind her house.

I think guys "get it", gals don't. Gals seem to think it's all about that
love chit. Whatever that is????????????
:p:p:p

I have my home in the country on 15 acres of woods.
Deer, small game, my own shooting range..............you guys get it.

My l'il 3 bedroom ranch is worth maybe, $150K with the land, all
woods.

Her's is worth half a million.

She STILL earns more money than my retirement.

A guy has to keep his priorities straight.:D

"dominant critters" "It was hard to break her into my way of thinking."
What is she, a horse? :p

Sounds like bachelor material to me....

Why I won't ever marry her.

Or any other woman.

Now Brucie is kinda cute and cooks and............................bleeeech,
patooie! I'd rather slide down a razor blade mountain into an alcohol
river!!!!!!!!!!!

That "lovey dovey chit" fades over time.

I'm 70 and have a 17 year old. My youngest.

She was 25 years younger and struggling with 4 girls to 4 dads.

I was STUPID and on the rebound from a divorce.

That wife inherited millions and spent lots on HER and zero on me.

Then I caught her screwing another millionaire so I just packed my chit
and left.
Not worth shooting someone over.
A woman????????????????
!ell NO!
I got the slut with big boobs on the rebound.
Or she got me!
The SHE gets pregnant. By accident. SURE IT WAS!

I did the decent thing and married her but that didn't last.

The best thing is my 17 year old fine son from her and she's a good
mom.
Good 'nuff.

I don't piss and moan over anything. Life is what life always is.

Ups and downs.

So it goes.
